The bell had rung shortly after I had lost sight of Mr.Parker. Thankfully, I don't have any classes  with Jet, at least, I'm pretty sure I don't. I'd like to believe I'm observant, that's what Courtney tells me, which is why she asks for the latest gossip from me even though I never tell her what I hear or see.

But what does it matter? It's not like anyone knows I had talked with his father today. I mean, all I was told to do was to message my father. That's not something gossip worthy. I am not going to become someone in the 'it' crowd. A nobody is all I really need to be until I graduate college and all that bullshit before I can create my own business or go down a completely different career path. I could figure all this out later. Yeah.

"MadelineKate!" My body tensed when I heard a male voice call my name.

I scurried a few more yards until I reached my locker to get my history textbook and pretended to do other things as I hoped the bell would ring and whoever was calling my name wouldn't find me.

A tap on the shoulder made me squeak and turn around to be greeted by a pair of calm baby blue eyes and blonde hair. Seth Asher.

"H-hi," I fake stuttered as I did with Mr.Parker.

Why the hell is one of Jet's friends talking to me?

"MadelineKate, right?" He asked with a dashing smile.

I nodded and let my eyes flicker to the floor as if to show I was afraid, "T-that's me."

"Well," he cleared his throat, and my eyes flickered back to his, probably showing my confusion as to why he didn't just keep talking without caring I wasn't making eye contact like any other person in  the 'it' crowd would, "There're your pretty green eyes!" His smile broadened.

He may be the cute one of the three, but either way, he shouldn't be talking to me.

"Thanks," I smiled a little while my brows showed my confusion, "So what do you need?"

A look of confusion passed his face the same time I realized I didn't stutter or show shyness.

"You left your history notebook in class last Friday. You're lucky Mr.Fethermore didn't assign homework."

I scoffed at his comment, "Like he'd even check if we did it. I could bs my way through his class and still ace it!"

Crap. I said that out loud, but it's true. That class is where everyone works hard, but only us "nerds" or "quiet people" know that he doesn't actually check the work like he says, but he pays close attention to tests and projects.

Shy, sweet, scared, quiet. Shy, sweet, scared quiet. I need to follow the code.

Seth's cute boy smile vanished and was replaced with a player's smirk, "I knew there was more to you than shy, sweet, scared and quiet. Now I can add cocky and smart to that list. Actually, I've always known you're smart."

At least, I was successful at following my code.

"S-sorry I didn't m-mean to be c-cocky."

He shrugged, "I just don't understand what caused Daniel to talk to you. There obviously has to be something in your personality that you're hiding from the personality you show at school. I mean, I've always suspected it, but I've been to shy to ask you about it."

I couldn't believe how easily he could read me or that fact he admitted to be too shy to talk to me. There's something wrong going on here.

"M-Mr. Parker just wanted me to remind my father of an upcoming event."
