This is a story written during National Novel Writing Month, November 2015. It is still under revisions.
There are two sets of characters. Each chapter, they switch off three times. The teenagers come first, the band comes second. The kids are as follows: Christie, Nick, Bella, Devin, and Anna. The band is as follows: Cody, Devan, Blair, James, and Mitch. None of them are real people, although all of them have traits shared by the people in my life. Some of the events they go through are real. Since this is a fictional story, I have exercised creative license and shaped my characters around what I know.
The story opens in the future, so to speak. I begin with the end, open with the close: the concert. No context, no explanation, just a show. And then we go back, more than a year. The concert is in September, and we go back past the September before, to August. Lifeline is a half-baked idea, and Christie and friends are on summer vacation.
Originally the main characters were going to be Christie and Cody, but as the other people developed (band members and friends), I decided they needed more of a say in things, so they talk more than they were going to when I began writing.
Please understand that I have no idea how bands begin/get signed/make it big. This is my portrayal of the process, and I can guarantee that it is flawed. Please bear with me. I will be updating every two weeks or so, although I may get excited and publish a few chapters. The entire thing is not yet complete, but it is nearly there and when I am finished I will upload as fast as possible.
Furthermore, I was not going to publish this story because I was aware that it would not get many reads. I have decided that any reads are good reads. You, whoever is still reading this, are worth my publishing it.
Thank you.
