A/N This is a short author's note. If you haven't seen my latest message on my conversation board, please go check it out and vote. It would mean so much to me and I would know which book you would like me to write. Enjoy chapter fifteen!
Last night went better than I thought it would. I scolded Cinna early this morning about not telling me about the fire. He just laughed it off and said it wouldn't be a surprise if I told you. Cinna came in this morning as I was getting ready to tell me how great of what job I did. And surprisingly, when Effie came to escort me to breakfast this morning, she wasn't that cheery. She said good job and stayed silent he whole entire time. Weird.
Right now I'm at breakfast. Wearing a light pink colored dress, that looks like peach, white two inch heels, my hair in a bun and light make up on my face wasn't so bad. The royalty sits silent eating our delicious breakfast. Pancakes, toast, bacon and scramble eggs with either orange juice or water.
It was fine, until a load boom was sounded.
Queen Coin shouts, "Ladys'! To the side wall!"
King Snow helps his wife stand and guides her to the wall. Peeta goes around helping random girls up. Annie and I just started standing when two windows broke. I grab Annie's hand and say, "Annie we got to run!" Guards rush over to help the two of us.
We make it safely to the wall and the two guards go help the others. I watch as at least half of the guards is guarding us and royalty while the other half goes close to the windows and shoots.
Most of the girls are crying and Peeta is trying to help them. Or comfort them. I can't tell cause he is doing a really bad job of it at the same time a good job. I laugh little as I'm shocked about whats going on. This hasn't happened at all while we were here. Annie stands tears falling down her face while Glimmer is bawling her eyes out. Clove stands there staring at the action. A thought comes to my head. The girls crying are probably going to get kicked out. Because by the looks of guards and Prince Peeta, this must happen a lot. So there used it and the future Princess has to be strong and ready.
I nudge Annie. "Stop crying and wipe your tears "
She gives me a confused look. "Huh? Why?"
"I'll tell you later. Just trust me. Wipe your tears and stop crying." I state quickly cause Peeta is coming over to us soon.
I watch as Peeta walks over to us.
"Ladies, how are you feeling?"
Annie says, "Shocked, maybe a little scared. Other than that I'm fine." She walks away leaving us to talk.
I smirk and raise an eyebrow. "So I see you sure know how to deal with them."
He chuckles. "Yeah well I faintly remember telling you that I didn't know what to do when woman cry."
I nod my head. "I don't remember you telling me such a thing."
Peeta laughs. "Well when this mess is over, go back to your room. I will be checking on every girl later on."
"Sounds like a plan." I smile and Prince Peeta continues to walk down the line of girls. And attempts to comfort them.I sit on my bed trying to color when a knock sounds at my door. Madge, the only maid in here who was sweeping the tile floor, rushes to open it. She crusty while saying come in your majesty. I look up to see Peeta walk in looking tired. Madge walks out the door before giving me a wink.
I clap. "Well someone looks tired. Let me guess. You just dealt with at least twenty crying girls and I'm the last girl you have to deal with."
He nods. "Correct what are you doing there?"
"Trying to draw which has failed." I sigh while shoving the lad of paper at him.
Peeta looks down at it. One look and he starts laughing.
I playfully punch his shoulder. "Hey it's not funny."
I start to laugh too. "Maybe one day you can draw or show me your paintings for me."
He nods. "Yeah I would love to show you them."
Silence fills the room. "Are you sure you are okay?" He asks.
"Peeta, I'm fine. Trust me. You don't have to worry about me breaking down in tears about this. Anyway what did happen?"
Peeta sighs. "This ways happen. Their rebels, the people who attack us. There are the Northern rebels and the Southern rebels. Both hate the caste system. While the Notherns never kill, just break in to try and find things, the Southerns are violeng. Northern come regularly. Not trying to kill, just searching. Sometimes they will injure people, but never in a mean way. Southern it's rare for them to come. But at an event like this Selection, well of course rebels will attack."I nod. "Do you know what the rebels want?"
Peeta shrugs. "We have guesses. Knowing they want the caste system gone, they are looking for something. In the palace maybe. Or a someone. I'm not sure. Dinner will be held in your room just like lunch was. Tomorrow's schedule will be a Saturday schedule again. Just to calm things down here."
I nod. "Thanks for stopping by."
"Anytime Katniss." Peeta than stands and leaves the room.
I lay down on my bed and close my eyes resting. A lot has happened today. I wonder what our families will be like when they find out about this.
