TRIGGER WARNING
--
I was sitting on the couch reading a book when the doorbell rang. Patricia and Patrick were both gone, so I knew I'd have to be the one to open it. I stared at it for a few seconds, then the bell rang again, and I forced myself to get up, and slowly but surely walk over and open it.
"Hello," a tall guy with long curly hair and glasses said.
"Um hi," I said shyly not making eye contact.
"Oh hey, are you Y/N?" he smiled.
"Yeah, and you are?" he looked a bit familiar but no bells were ringing
"Oh sorry, I'm Andy, we kind of met the day you came, but you've been hiding in your room every other time I've been over."
I nodded, and looked at him quizzically.
"So," he asked awkwardly, "is Patrick in?"
"No he went to Pete's," I said glad to be out of that situation.
"Oh," he looked around unsure and then looked at me and said, "well then, do you want to hang out?"
I stared at him, "You want to hang out with me?" I'd never even properly met him, but he was one of Patrick's friends.
He smiled sweetly, "Well yeah, I mean I was planning to hang out with Patrick, so it's not like I have other plans, and you seem cool," he said. He was setting himself up for disappointment, but I needed to make more effort to be social.
I hesitated, but finally sighed, "Okay, sure," and forced myself to smile
"Sweet, come on," he started walking in the other direction down the pathway to the sidewalk.
I bit my lip, and slipped on red converse, grabbing my leather jacket before following after him.
"So hows Patty been treating you?" he asked as we walked down the sidewalk.
"Fine," I smiled, blushing slightly remembering that night.
"Yeah, he's a generally good guy, sometimes he can be a bit awkward, but mostly he's a great friend to have."
I nodded, "So, how long have you known him?"
"Oh man forever, Pete's been friends with him since they were babies, same as me and our friend Joe, but we all met in kindergarden, and have been best friends ever since, just now we have a band," he smiled at me. He had a really nice personality that made me feel a lot less nervous around him.
"That's nice, I wish I had friends like that," I looked at the ground.
He noticed the sad look on my face and put his arm around my shoulders, "Well now you do," he grinned, and kind of hugged me.
I laughed, "Thanks."
"And as my new best friend, I feel I should invite you to witness me showing off my mad drumming skills, tonight at Pete's."
"No you don't have to do that, I don't want to barge in on you guys."
"I insist, then you can meet Joe, and Pete's already practically in love with you, so it won't be..."
"Wait what?" did he say Pete loved me?
"What? Oh Pete, well he pretty much falls in love with every good looking girl within five feet of him, but he called me the other day and talked about you for about an hour, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind."
"Really?" I don't know how I feel about that. I mean I liked him, but I don't know, and I'm still confused about the hole Patrick thing. Maybe it would be good to separate myself from him a bit.
