Author's note: Based off my Harry's character, Marcel, in Best Song Ever music video.
It's been 2 weeks since I've first moved to Doncaster. My school is nice and all but I can't seem to fit in. You see, back in Holmes Chapel, people seemed nicer and they didn't seem to mind how everyone acts or thinks. I don't understand why we had to move but I guess the housing here is more affordable for my mum, Anne.
I like school. I like to learn and do the classwork and homework. I guess that's why the football jocks differ me from them. It also explains why I've been getting beat up and teased by the team. The worse of them all? Louis Tomlinson. Captain of the football team, most popular guy in school, young girls (and a few guys) falling head over heels for him, and best looking guy in school (from what everyone thinks). I wouldn't say I hated him, most definitely not, I don't even know him. I'm not one to be quick to judge, that's all. It's just, he treats me like a piece of shi- I mean crap (I don't like to swear much, it's not necessary). So my plan? To stay on the down low, avoid the football team, avoid Louis, and focus on my studies. I just want to get through junior year without wanting to kill myself.
"Marcel, are you up baby?" I hear my mum call from downstairs.
"Yes mum, I'm ready." I call back.
"Come down and eat something before you leave." She replies.
I rushed downstairs to find my mum sitting at the kitchen table with a coffee mug in one hand and a newspaper in the other. I silently sat down as I fixed my brown tie. Mum made me some tea and toast with strawberry jam. I ate quietly, trying not to get any crumbs on my dress pants.
"Marcel... don't get angry, yeh? But don't you think we should go shopping for... new clothes?" Mum suddenly spoke.
"No thanks, Mum. I like the way I dress." I reply with a proud smile.
The thing is, I only wear dress pants in the colors brown, grey, and black. I pair that with dress shirts which I own both long and short sleeve. The dress shirts are either white, beige, blue, or Hawaiian patterned. I fancy my outfits up with my patterned vests, cool patterned socks (well, cool in my opinion) and my regular brown dress shoes or Sperry's.
"It's just, people are a bit different here and we should adjust and try to fit in as best as we can. Do you understand?" Mum questions.
"Mum, I like the way I dress. Please." I slightly beg.
She nodded and gave me an apologetic smile. I check my watch and noticed it's time I get going to school. I gave her a kiss on the cheek and told her I best get going. She told me to walk safely and have a nice day. That's not happening if I bump into Louis though, I thought to myself.
I exit my front door and walk peacefully to school. I walk by houses and houses until I see Louis' house. I stop for a minute to admire the simplicity and beauty of it. It must've been about 1,800 sq. ft. according to its width and height. Very stable bricks and-
"What the hell are you looking at?" I hear a yell.
Louis began to walk towards me, but keeping his fair distance with an irritated look and questioning eyes.
"Oh, I apologize. I was just admiring your home, that's all." I reply with a bit of panic.
Louis stared at me with what seems to be pity and humor.
"You're so damn weird." He finally spoke.
"Well.. thank you. I guess." I answer, still not meeting his blue eyes.
"Have you quite finished then?" He says.
I realized I've been in the same spot for nearly 5 minutes now. There's just something about Louis that makes people intrigue in any conversation you have with him. He has some sort of power of making people want to answer his questions and follow his orders.
"Yes, sorry. I'll get going now." I quickly reply as I pick up my speed and continue my walk to school.
Odd. Usually when Louis sees me, he would pin me to the nearest wall or locker and shout things he thinks are "so hilarious," to let his teammates get a good laugh as he throws light punches to my stomach. No worries, the pain only lasts for a couple of hours.
"Hey! Uh.. you!" I hear a familiar voice call out.
I turn to see Louis pulling up beside me in his grey car with the passenger's window down.
"It's uh.. It's raining." He pointed out.
I didn't even realize it was, it was drizzling a bit so it wasn't really my concern. I nodded and replied,
"Yes, it is."
"Don't you want this umbrella then..?" He questioned.
What the heck? Why would Louis Tomlinson, captain of the football team, want to give me an umbrella? Why does he care? When did he care?
"Um no thanks. It's quite alright. School isn't that far. Almost there anyway." I answered.
"Right.. uh well just so you know, my mum made me bring this to you so I-I didn't ch-choose to offer. Got it?!" He shoots back.
I nodded with a puzzled look and turned back around to continue my walk. I grip my backpack straps to help hold it's heavy weight. Why do I carry so many books? It's like I take my whole locker with me. Louis' car went past me as I trail behind.
I arrived at school and entered my first class of the day, piano. I actually never wanted to take this class but mum insisted because everyone in the house knew how to play fairly well and I wanted to make her happy. It's a simple class but since I take no interest in it, I'm sort of struggling. Which for me, never happens because I find school quite simple. Mum says it's because I'm a "natural genius."
"Alright class, settle down. Settle down." Mr. Anderson announces. "As most of you know, it's the beginning of the 3rd quarter and as always, there's a new project you must complete to start the quarter off. Which is why I have assigned partners to each of you from Mrs. Grace's advanced class."
The class starts to mumble under their breath with comments varying from "Ugh, this is rubbish," to "Ooohh, the advanced class. This is gonna be exciting!"
"Anyways, they should be coming over in a minute so I'll tell you who your, well let me just call it, your 'captain'."
Just as Mr. Anderson finished his sentence, Mrs. Grace, walks in along with her class. I sit silently but notice familiar eyes start to look around the class. Well just my luck, Louis Tomlinson.
"Hello class!" Mrs Grace greets. "This is my class and Mr. Anderson and I will call out your names for your partners so I'll start off."
Mrs. Grace would call out a student from her class and Mr. Anderson would follow by calling out a student from my class. The list went on and one until Louis' name was called and I froze. Staring up at his form, girls start to squeal and whisper,
"He's so damn fit." I hear Nicole who sits front of me whisper to another girl.
"I'll be your partner, Lou!" A girl who sits a few rows across yells out with a wink.
The class ooed in encouragement. I find myself cringing as I adjusted my glasses.
"Mrs. Anderson, can I actually pick my own partner?" Louis suddenly says.
"Um, well you are Mrs. Grace's best student so I don't see why not. Go ahead Tomlinson." Mr. Anderson answered.
Louis started walking down my row of desks. He's probably gonna pick Nicole since she is very pretty and is captain of the cheer-leading team. To my surprise, he walked right past her and stops at the last seat of the row, my seat to be exact.
"I pick him." Louis says out loud.
Laughter began to fill the room as people started cracking insults and jokes at me. Louis just stood before me smirking. I start to feel my sweats to begin to activate as I stare at him in shock.
"Alright settle down! That's enough. Uhhh... Marcel Styles." Mr Anderson spoke.
"Marcel, is it?" Louis continue to smirk.
I nodded in embarrassment. Louis grabbed a chair and sat down next to me. My thoughts raced as you can obviously guess why. With everything that happened earlier this morning and Louis demanding to choose me as his partner, I start to shiver a bit with anxiety. What is happening?
"This is gonna be fun, yeh?" Louis whispered as he winked at me.
Oh, joy.. I thought.
