I Smell Summer

Chapter 7

2 days later.

Dane and Laura came back from holidays yesterday. Boy was he in a big surprise to find out that we are all

holding a grudge against him. Matty told me that Brody and Dane had a full-on punch up because Brody didnt want to see Jess in that state again. Brody and Jess have been best friends since year 2 so he is pretty protective over her. Jess rested at home yesterday but she will be coming over tonight for 2 days. I have never seen someone react like that. Big life changer.

My phone started vibrating. I picked it up and saw Stella's face across my screen. I slid the green answer button and held my phone up to my ear.

"Hello?"

"KYLIE! TIM JUST ASKED ME OUT!" she screamed. I had to hold my phone away from my ear so I didn't go deaf.

"Really?" I pretended to be surprised. "What did you say?" I asked

"I said no." she replied. I was speechless. Why did she say no!

"Im just joking. Of course I said yes!" I laughed and sighed in releif.

"Okay, BYE!" she said enthusiastically . Well she wasn't really looking for a conversation.

I heard the ringing of my Nana Joys dolphin wind chime, its either Jess or the wind. No one uses Nana Joys front door since she is to weak to unlock it.

"Oh hello dear!" I heard my Nana Joy say from downstairs. I peaked over the railing and saw Jess hugging her.

"Hello Joy! Is Kylie here?" She questioned

"Sure am!" I yelled down the railing. She looked up and when she saw me smiled and started running up the stairs. Wow, she is being very... cheery. I was expecting her to be a reck.

I sat back on my bed and logged into my laptop as she entered my room and took a seat on the other bed I had set up for her. She got out her laptop and was typing away.

"So how are you feeling?" I asked her.

"Im fantasti-" she started to say. I looked over and saw her frozen. I stared at her worried as a tear slipped from her eye, she sniffed and wiped it off so I didn't see. I quickly got up and went to see why she was crying. On Facebook was a picture of Laura and Dane standing on Pippi beach hugging each other. It was recent because Dane had a bit of a bruised forehead and a busted lip.

"Jess-"

"Forget it, Im fine." She said stifly slamming her laptop closed. Before I said anymore, my laptop started ringing. I accepted Stella'a Skype request. Her and Tim popped up on the screen.

"Is Jess there?" Stella said concerned. Jess came and sat next to me answering Stella's question. I put my arm around her and she sniffed a little.

"I assume you have seen facebook?" Tim asked. We both nodded.

"He is such a dick." Stella said.

"She is such a two faced bitch." Jess said referring to Laura. "That blue-haired slut, was one of my best friends, and she is just going to steal my fucking boyfriend... Well, ex-boyfriend now" she said aggressively.

She put her head in my shoulder and started bawling. I hugged her tightly trying to comfort her.

"How bout we go to the pool and forget this situation?" Stella suggested.

"Yeah sounds good" I said. Jess sat up straight nodding her head sniffling a little.

"But I dont want to go to the pool!" Tim whined. "I want to surf"
