Eureka' POV
One, two, three four. I chimed to myself, following that beat to my every step. The sun is shining low, almost telling me to pick up an angel that I love. It's almost four o'clock. I look back, hearing footsteps behind me. It was Sally, my best friend. She's on the reserve team for the Olympics, under me by rank but oh so higher than me when it comes to closeness with coach Evans, her father. Her lemon blonde hair was whiped back by a pony tail, her sparkling brown eyes sparkling with glee. I look at her tanned skin, feeling envy overwhelm me. I've been runnign for 4 hours everyday since April, why haven't I gone tan? I'm still so pale, as in no melanin. When will I get tanned? Never. As in. I stop at my beat and sit by the bottom of the bleachers, next to my portable and trusty tumbler.
I feel my waist length hair sticking to my nape like a sticker. I pull a scrunchie from my pocket, hoisting it to my wrist. I pull my strawberry blonde hair back into a tight ponytail, it's curls falling to below my shoulders. Why does my angel like me with long hair anyways? That's one thing I never understand about kids.
"Hey! Eureka wait up!" I Sally shout, only a few feet away from me. Duh, I'm not even standing! I try to massage the pain away from my thighs, their soreness so bad that I could almost see my muscles twisting in knots. If it ain't for this though, I woulnd't have a scholarship. This and good grades. But I have to admit that running for the Olympics isn't your usual walk in the park.
"What Sally? I need to pick Eddie up in five." I said, standing up. I shift my weight to one leg and stretch out. I rub the nape of my neck, feeling as though it was gonna snap.
"One Direction, my adorable boys, are gonna go back here for a concert! Wolverhampton is such a lucky plce to be in!" She said dreamily. That was when I noticed her black book, I mean 'scrapbook of amazing' held tightly to her chest.
"Ugh. Them again? You know I'm not interested in music right? I don't have the time to listen to any of that stuff. Sal, the latest update of my iPad was since Justin Bieber released "Baby". That's such a long time ago, believe me." I said, holding her shoulders so she wouldn't start jumping with excitement.
"But this is different, daddy wants you to come!"
"What?!"
