We walked over to a car, him helping me get my suit case and duffle bag in the trunk. He started driving away from the police station. Away from my old life.
"You like My Chemical Romance?" He asked, gesturing to my shirt.
I was going to give him a sarcastic answer, like duh, I wouldn't wear a shirt if I didn't like the band, but I didn't want to make him feel bad for just trying to make conversation.
"Yeah. Do you have an AUX cord?" I asked, the car was too quiet without any music.
"Yeah, here." He said and handed it to me.
I plugged in my phone and went into my music. I put on Car Radio by Twenty One Pilots.
"You have an amazing taste in music." He said, smiling.
I smiled back, "I know."
He laughed as the words of the song started.
I ponder of something great
My lungs will fill and then deflate
They fill with fire
Exhale desire
I know it's dire
My time todayI have these thoughts
So often I ought
To replace that slot
With what I once bought
'Cause somebody stole
My car radio
And now I just sit in silenceSometimes quiet is violent
I find it hard to hide it
My pride is no longer inside
It's on my sleeve
My skin will scream
Reminding me of
Who I killed inside my dream
I hate this car that I'm driving
There's no hiding for me
I'm forced to deal with what I feel
There is no distraction to mask what is real
I could pull the steering wheelI have these thoughts
So often I ought
To replace that slot
With what I once bought
'Cause somebody stole
My car radio
And now I just sit in silenceI ponder of something terrifying
'Cause this time there's no sound to hide behind
I find over the course of our human existence
One thing consists of consistence
And it's that we're all battling fear
Oh dear, I don't know if we know why we're here
Oh my,
Too deep
Please stop thinking
I liked it better when my car had soundThere are things we can do
But from the things that work there are only two
And from the two that we choose to do
Peace will win
And fear will lose
There's faith and there's sleep
We need to pick one please because
Faith is to be awake
And to be awake is for us to think
And for us to think is to be alive
And I will try with every rhyme
To come across like I am dying
To let you know you need to try to thinkI have these thoughts
So often I ought
To replace that slot
With what I once bought
'Cause somebody stole
My car radio
And now I just sit in silence(Oooh) [x4]
(Oooh) [x6 & repeats in background]
And now I just sit in silence [x2]
And now I just sitAnd now I just sit in silence [x3]
And now I just sitI ponder of something great
My lungs will fill and then deflate
They fill with fire
Exhale desire
I know it's dire
My time todayI have these thoughts
So often I ought
To replace that slot
With what I once bought
'Cause somebody stole
My car radio
And now I just sit in silenceI sang the whole song with no mistakes. Michael looked impressed.
"That was pretty good." He said. I smiled as he next song came on. Secrets by OneRepublic. I sang that perfectly too.
I might be a bit shy, but when it comes to singing, I just can't resist.
"You can sing, that's for sure." He said. I didn't respond, I didn't really know how, I wasn't used to getting compliments.
We sat for awhile, just listening to my playlist and talking, trying to get to know each other.
It was around 4:00 AM when I started to get tired. I felt myself drift off to sleep.
When I woke up, I saw Michael getting out of the car and waking around to help me out.
I stood by the car as he got out my suit case and duffle bag. He took them both, not even giving me a chance to grab one.
On the way up the elevator, he started talking. "Did they tell you that my band is going to be with us."
I nodded, my eyes feeling heavy. The elevator stopped. "They can be a little odd, but they're really nice once you get to know them and-" he started, but I cut him off.
"I'm sure they're gonna be great. They can't be much weirder than my friends." I said with a laugh as we stopped at a door.
He pulled a room key out of his pocket and unlocked the door, pushing it open and walking through the door.
I heard the voices on in the room stop, and I stepped into the room, all eyes on me. By all eyes, I mean three pairs of eyes, all belonging to boys.
I stood there uncomfortably as Michael set down my bags. The three boys stood up and made their way over to us. They looked me up and down. One had really dark hair and dark brown eyes, one had brown hair and hazel eyes, while the last one had blonde hair and blue eyes. They were pretty attractive, but I didn't really think too much into that.
"I'm Ashton, this is Calum, and this is Luke." The one with curly brown hair said, gesturing to each boy when he said their name.
"I'm Skylar, it's nice to meet you all." I said quietly, my shy side taking over and making me look at the ground.
"You're probably really tired, so we'll let you sleep. We're gonna be in the next room over, the rooms are joined, so just open that sort and we'll be there." Ashton said with a smile as they walked past me to get to the door.
"I figured that those three can share a room and you and I can, just so you'd be more comfortable. You can pick whichever bed you want. I'm gonna go over and talk to the guys. Night, Skylar." He said and headed towards the door.
"Sky." I said, making him turn and give me a confused look.
"You can call me that, all my friends call me that. So you can too." I said.
"Then call me Mikey. All my friends call me that." He said, smiling as he walked through the door.
I pulled out a pair of pajama shorts and a tank top out of my suit case and changed in the bathroom. I chose the bed closest to the door.
I as soon as I laid down, I fell asleep.
