Ryan's P.O.V
I always wondered why we trained so much. The rigorous exercise had heightened my senses and increased my endurance. The constant strain of using my powers had counteracted the chemicals of the dye in my hair and it was turning back to jet black. I was learning how to expand my powers even more and was able to convert half by body into water to glide across The Danger Room to become more agile and fluid. My control over other liquids was stronger now. I found myself being able to multitask while controlling water and fighting. Training sessions where a dam was breaking and I had to hold back the gallons of water while fighting off sentinels had helped with that. My roster switched too. At time I would be with Kitty and Bobby and others I'd be with Beast and Havok. I got to know my teammates more and we worked harmoniously during training. I didn't face a real threat until the school was being attacked.
The red alarm siren had interrupted making out with Cassie by the fountain and she rushed off to her post in the danger room where all the students were kept until the threat was over. Scott and I were the first respondents.
"East wing." Scott said, taking off his glasses and putting on his visor. I vapor traveled to the east wing where the breach was and was met with an axe breezing past by cheek. The axe flew back into the grasp of a woman. She was clad in bronze armor. Her breastplate emblazoned with Medusa's head. She glowed red with the gift of Ares.
"Daughter of Ares." I stated
"Son of Poseidon" she responded. Her voice was sharp and quick. I watched as her axe grew into a halberd with a jagged point.
"How did you track him down? Surely Hephaestus wasn't hard to catch."
She spun her weapon. "Who said the cripple forged it?"
I took out my own changing blade and it morphed into a trident. "Because I had to force him to make mine. Only he possesses the magic and skill to forge an ever changing blade." I said. I sensed a flicker of fear as she eyed my weapon, but it was gone as soon it came. She charged.
I side-stepped, bringing my trident to strike against the handle of her halberd. I drew in and hit her head with the end of my trident and spun away from her.
She was dazed. "You'll find we're alike in more ways then one." I threw my trident and it bounced off of her armor. Her breast plate was dented, distorting the image on the metal. I caught it and it shrunk into a sword. Her halberd shrunk into an axe but she then peeled a second one from the first. Now she wielded twin axes. And she attacked.
She fought with a rage that caught me off guard. All I could do is parry her attacks until I saw an opening. I thrust my sword into her open midsection but was met with a thick resistance. Her skin bent against the point but my blade didn't pierce her skin. She slashed both of her axes at my head and I ducked just in time to avoid being beheaded. I rolled away.
"You're a mutant?"
"Of course. If I wasn't I wouldn't be here with them."
"Them?" I repeated. She smirked. I felt the air shift and I turned and caught a very pink, very slippery tongue. I yanked the owner out from the shrubs and out came a very disfigured man. He had pale skin with a greenish tint and goggles that covered his eyes. The skin around the goggles had warts and blisters. And his mouth was abnormally wide with yellow teeth.
"Toad" I heard Scott say. I looked to my left and the woman was on the floor steaming. Scott's visor had bright red frantically trying to escape the quartz.
I kicked Toad in the face, knocking him out. I looked around.
"Were not done yet." Scott spoke. Heavy footsteps could be heard from the small forest nearby. Bobby slid over, in his ice form. Nightcrawler bamfed next to me clutching Colossus and I plugged my nose at the smell of brimstone.
