His plane had landed. Nadine knew because she had been obsessively checking PAL's website on her phone plus Tita Dinz had just texted her. She wanted so badly to be at the airport. She wanted to run into his arms as soon as he stepped out of the doors of NAIA but it just wasn't possible. So instead she was waiting at James' condo while Tita Dinz picked him and his dad up. She would drop dad off first at his house and then take James here. Her phone dinged in her hand.
At baggage now, love. I can't wait to see you.
I'm here at your condo. Ready and waiting.
You better be ready, baby.
His words made her stomach tingle and she adjusted James' flannel shirt that she was wearing. She wanted him so badly, every second that passed until his arrival was agony. Her phone dinged again. It wasn't a text from James this time but from Tita Dinz.
Nadz, nakita ko na sila. Medyo may pilay si James at mukhang pagod. Alagaan mo 'to ah.
Nadine jumped up from the couch and immediately dialed James.
"Naddie," he said happily.
"What happened?"
He sounded startled at her tone. "What?"
"Sabi ni Tita Dinz may pilay ka raw. What happened?"
"You told her already?" She heard him mutter at Tita Dinz.
"Hoy Robert James, kinakausap kita! Sabihin mo nga sa akin kung ano nangyari!"
"It's not a big deal, love. I just twisted my ankle a little. It's not sprained, just a little swollen."
"How?"
Nadine heard some shuffling and car doors slamming in the background.
"Tom and I were screwing around on a hover board with a friend and I kind of fell off," he said sheepishly.
"Yan ang sinasabi ko sa hover board mo na yan eh! When was this?"
"Yesterday morning before Lauren and I left for the festival."
"And you didn't tell me?" Nadine practically yelled. "Nagkausap tayo bago ka umalis ah."
"It wasn't that bad," James said. "I guess it just got worse when I danced around last night."
"I'm going to call Ate Ca. Ipapatingin natin yan."
"Naddie, I swear I'm fine."
"I'm fine ka diyan. Basta ipapatingin natin yan. Sige na, tawagan ko si Ate Ca ngayon."
"Naddie..."
She hung up and dialed Ate Ca.
"Hello, Nadine?" Her voice sounded sleepy, like she had just woken up, though it was pretty late in the afternoon. The small part of Nadine's brain that was still functioning rationally reminded her their RMs worked as hard as she and James did.
"Ate Ca, pa-schedule ka ngayon sa doctor."
"Ano?" She sounded wide awake and alert now. "Bakit? Ano nangyari?"
"Yung alaga mo may pilay sa paa. Pauwi na siya dito sa condo ngayon. Ipatingin natin."
"Anong may pilay? Ano nangyari?"
