Lily's POV
I sat in the town car that had come to pick me up, staring out the window. Why my boss had ever thought that throwing a rooftop party was a good idea... I don't know.
It really was a good idea, I was just tired and grouchy from the night before.
The amount of sleep I'd gotten was low. I assumed maybe 2 hours at most. I couldn't think of anything other than what had happened last night.
His green eyes had ruined my thought process. How had I never seen him before? I'd been there for a month, easily. His face had never turned up until last night.
What bothered me was how little he made me feel. I hated men that acted like they had power over me and he was one of the few I allowed to think he had that ability.
Had I just stood up for myself, I probably would have been able to sleep better. It killed me inside knowing that I was so intimidated, he could do anything to me.
"Ma'am.... Did you hear me? We're here." The driver spoke to me through the open door.
I'd been staring straight ahead at the seat in front of me, lost in thought. He had the door wide open, waiting for me to get out.
My face turned the color of a tomato as I made my way out of the car. I was happy I didn't have to pay him. The car was sent by the company. Everything was paid for already.
He offered me a friendly smile, telling me to have a nice day. I nodded, too embarrassed to say anything back.
I was tired and still felt slightly hung over from the night before. There was a small heat wave even though it was only May, and my body felt like it was about to start dripping in sweat.
I made my way to the top of the building, waiting as the elevator lifted me slowly upwards.
Today's party wasn't typically a big deal for me. I'd been to a few of these since I'd started working at Vogue. The purpose was so that companies and business owners had the chance to get press out about their products and stores.
It usually ended up being awfully boring at first. Everyone tried to be so business-like and I sat at the bar, drinking by myself.
I hated confrontation. I didn't have a reason to speak to these people, I was just needed in case my boss made me go speak to a certain company they wanted me to right about. Usually that didn't happen. Most of the time I got to sit and mingle with people.
"It's beautiful out." I turned my head to the right, staring at my gorgeous boss standing next to me.
Elizabeth Smith was absolutely stunning. She was born in America but raised in England. She had a small accent on her that made her physique even more stunning.
She was tall, toned and had legs the went on for days. Her gorgeous blonde hair went down to her shoulders with a couple layers. She was wearing a cover up over her small bathing suit.
40 years old, single and hot as hell. I can guarantee she had a different man every night, taking her on dates and enjoying her company. She was definitely one of the nicer women I'd met in this business. It surprised me really. Usually when you're that highly ranked, you're known as a bitch.
"Yeah... It's lovely out." I agreed.
"What piece are wearing?" She asked, looking over my body.
I'm wearing a small sundress over my plain black Calvin Klein bikini. It wasn't visible through the fabric, but I knew she'd say it eventually.
"The plain black Calvin Klein bikini for this season." I tell her with fake excitement.
I'd rather be anywhere but here right now.
