Lily's POV
I could feel my heart pounding. The subtle thud made me feel all warm inside.
I couldn't believe he took me on a date. After last night, I never thought I'd never see him again. He was so set on kicking me out, I was completely stunned when he told me he'd taken me out.
He'd dropped me off at work after our lunch date was over. He had to get back to work as well, so everything worked out for the both of us.
It didn't stop Elizabeth from invading my personal business and trying to get every detail out of me. I kept it professional, only letting her know the business aspects of it. I didn't think it was important for her to know of Harry and my little thing going on. He obviously didn't want people to know about it, and I guess it was understandable.
Now I'm practically running towards Carter's restaurant, knowing I'm already 20 minutes late. Amanda said she couldn't make it because one of her photo shoots was running late and she wouldn't be done till late this evening.
So now I get to spend the entire evening with my best friend who is in love with me and I have no feelings for him of that nature what so ever.
I can smell the aroma of the Italian food as soon as I step inside. I'd be eating Italian twice today, but I didn't mind. There's tons of different things to eat.
"You're so late." His cheerful voice immediately calms me. He's being normal... Thank god.
"When am I not?" He laughs at my joke and presses his hand to my lower back to guide me through the restaurant.
Normally I wouldn't have minded, knowing it was a friendly gesture, but now everything feels off. I knew he didn't mean anything by it and I was simply overthinking everything, but I really just could not help it.
"Here's our table." Sadly, he'd placed us off in the corner, away from everyone else. I wasn't overly joyed about the placement, but I knew he was doing this because i normally liked to be secluded in restaurants.
I sat down, crossing my legs under the table. He sat across from me, pouring a glass of wine for the both of us. The dim light of the candle made his blue eyes glow and I couldn't help but watch them.
"You look nice by the way. Forgot to mention that." Even in the dim light I can see the blush that comes to his cheeks, and I can feel the blush that comes to mine.
"Thank you." I say quietly.
We order dinner and he starts to talk about how well the restaurant is doing. I can tell by the way the tables are filled with people, he isn't lying.
There was a line at the front of the restaurant for those waiting for a table. I was glad I didn't have to sit through that. My stomach was growling with hunger.
"How was work today?" The thought of Harry made my heart beat uncontrollably.
"It was great." I say shortly.
"Anything exciting coming up?" I take a long sip of my wine to think of how to answer his question.
"I'm writing a four page spread about a business owner. I had lunch with him today."
"Oh what's his name?" He's genuinely curious. He always wanted to know every detail of my life.
"Harry Styles." His jaw practically hits the floor after I say his name.
"You're interviewing Harry Styles?" He couldn't believe it.
"Yes. He lives in my building too. I've met him a few times." It's all boring to me at this point. I feel like I've told tons of people about him. I get it; he's a big deal. Why is Carter freaking out about this? He usually doesn't care about famous people.
