Reconstruction

I lead Gajeel, Levy, Gray, and Juvia to two, separate rooms, so that they can set up their cots and bring in their personal supplies for the week. Lucy and Happy trailled along with Levy, but wait me.

"Hold on, Natsu. I need to go get something. I'll be right back," says Lucy. She starts walking back to the door. I knock and tell Gajeel that Lucy and I will be outside to help them bring stuff in. Then, I charge down the hall to catch up with Lucy. I call for her to wait and we walk out, together.

Lucy and I shield our eyes from the bright sun, when I open the door. Lucy goes out and pulls a gold key from her leather pouch. I stay a few steps behind her, just in case her spirit is that jerk again.

Holding up the key, Lucy calls, "Open, Gate of the Maiden. Virgo!" The key starts to glow and I can hear a church bell. Suddenly, a pink haired girl in a maids outfit appears. She smiles at Lucy and asks if she's going to get... punishment? Lucy shakes her head.

"Virgo, I need you, and the others, if necessary, to bring me my things from the cave. You can just take them to my room, when you return." Virgo bows and disappears. Lucy puts he key away and takes out a new one.

"Open, Gate of the Lion. Leo!" I hear the bells again and, in a flash of gold, that jerk is draped over lucy like a shawl. She shoves him off and tells him to help us unpack the supplies from the carts that the others brought. We grab a few boxes and carry them to the rooms. Gajeel and Gray help with the rest as the girls converse in Gajeel's room.

Gray tells them when we're done and we all start cleaning on the top floor. We start by throwing out any rotting or left behind furniture and making a pile. Most of it can just be used as firewood. Once the floors are empty, we start sweeping; again we go top to bottom. We sweep out decades of dust, dirt, leaves, and rodent bones. We push the considerably large pile out the front door and Juvia washes it away with her magic.

The guys and I head off towards town to purchase cement mix, glass windows, and tools, while the girls finish cleaning.

Third Person POV

Lucy, Levy, and Juvia begin final cleaning by washing windows. Most of them are brown and let in no light. Others are broken or nonexistent. The girls, each, grab a bucket of water and a rag and get to work on the grimy glass.

Once all of the windows are clean, thd three sit down in the kitchen for a quick lunch of fruit and fresh bread. They talk about all the interesting things happening. Juvia can't wait for her baby to be born. Levy can't wait to marry Gajeel and have one of their own. Lucy can't wait for the day when she can see her mother again.

"Well," Levy begins, "let's get back to work. He need to take out broken windows, before the boys return." Lucy and Juvia nod in agreement and they brush off their clothes.

They all head to separate areas and start pushing the useless wooden window shutters out of the new holes in the walls. The wood slabs crash to the ground, one by one, and some even shattering on the greenery below. One after another fall and the sun shines bright in the open walls. Beautiful.

Meanwhile, Gray and the dragon slayers march through town gathering supplies and shouting nasty comments at each other. Natsu buys twine and cloth, to build Lucy a cot. He would buy them a proper bed, once they got married.

The boys head back and are at the fortress by sunset. Juvia had prepared a dinner for the six of them. There's chicken and rabbit, plus assorted fruits and vegetables. Over a glass of wine, Natsu proposes a toast.

"To us and all of our hard work. May we build strong walls and stronger bonds as friends. And to my friends. The soon to be parents and the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Redfox. And to my beautiful, amazing girlfriend, Lucy. The only one I will ever ask to be mine. So, how about it, Luce? Would let me court you?" Natsu drops to one knee, bows his head, and holds her hand.

"Of course, Natsu!" Lucy cries, helping him up and pulling him into a hug. The rest raise their glasses and toast. The newly proclaimed couple toast, too, and the group feasts like they won't again, until the renovation work is done.

When dinner is over, the crew set out for individual places; Nalu went to the kitchen, Gruvia to their room, and Gale left, to take Levy home. Her parents thought the she was out with Erza, Mirajane, and Wendy, today. A carefully planned ruse.

Natsu's POV

I stay in the dining room and clear away the plates of bones into a barrel, outside a window. Then, I take piles of plates down to Luce. She cleans them and I will dry them, once I'm done clearing the table. Men don't typically help like that, but I don't see why.

The Gray and Juvia walk out, just before I'm done. They're dressed for the lake. Gray and I used to swim and fish there all the time, when we were kids.

When I carry the last plate down, all of the plates are clean, but Lucy is nowhere to be seen. I look around the area, but no Lucy. I sniff the air.

"Ah, strawberries and vanilla. But, what's that other one? Pine and mint? Ice Princess!" I take off out the door, following the sent of Lucy and Gray. Now, a smell of petrichor. Even Juvia?! Someone is going to die. Never take a dragon's treasure.
