Levy hugs her mother and tears well in their eyes. It takes a while, before they release each other. When she does let go Levy's mom wipes the tears away and smiles. Levy smiles back, but gas questions.
"How did you know about this? Who else knows? Does Dad know?" Levy inquires, frantically trying to figure out her level of danger.
"It's ok, my dear. Your father thinks that I'm traveling to the capital. Besides, you and your friend have been united before the Gods. Your father can't change that fact," states Mrs. McGarden.
Before Fairy Tail is done partying, Gajeel and Levy excuse themselves. This is met with whistles and jeers. Much to my dismay, Lucy has been in our room, trying to sleep, for about an hour. She said that she was feeling sick again. I'm guessing that witnessing her first sacrifice, just before dinner, wasn't too appealing to her stomach.
After a few more hours, the tent is empty. I clear a few things away and turn in. I cuddle up to Lucy and hold her against me. I bury my nose in her hair and sigh. I easily fall asleep.
A few weeks later
The fortress has finally become a home. Lucy and I are living here, happily. We go into town every so often to see our friends or by supplies. I still work at the forge with Gajeel, too. Lucy is thinking of building fences and fixing up a barn to raise animals for food and resources.
Ever since the wedding, Levy has visited to help teach Lucy more. She teaches her about a woman's role and how to cook some more things, but she does learn important things too. Mostly about the baby that she is carrying. With a month in, Lucy is starting to show a very slight bump. She's been getting sick less, but is getting fevers. They flare up on occasion.
I take Lucy to the waterfall when we have the time. The cool water there seems to help her. Other times, we just go down to the lake and float around. I also take time to practice my magic. Lucy loves to watch from the water. When she feels that she can, Lucy will meditate and expand her magic energy.
Today, I have something special planned. I take Lucy to the waterfall, again. I carry her a few miles of the trip, when she gets tired. We go through the small opening an take off our clothes. I slowly lower myself into it. Lucy does the same, sighing when she touches the familiar water. We sit around and trade stories. I tell her all about my childhood and the army. I leave out any gory details.
Lucy tells me about growing up, raised by her spirits. Mostly, by Aquarius and Capricorn. Loke and Virgo taught her to fight and hunt. Crucis taught her basic speech and helped her with her magic training. All her spirits helped her. The spirits would summon themselves, until Lucy was strong enough to summon them on her own. She stayed away from other people, afraid they might hurt her.
I put my arm around Luce. She leans her head on my shoulder, taking a deep breath and letting it out.
"Lucy, I gotta tell you something." Lucy turns her head and stares doe-eyed at me. "Luce, I'm a soldier and I never know when they're going g to call me off to war. I know Blue Pegasus is already on the front lines in Carthage and Mermaid Heel has suffered many casualties. Fairy Tail might be next. I want to make sure that, even if something happens, that you know how much I really love you and that I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Lucy looks happy, but she's crying. I don't know if I did something wrong.
I start to panic; my hands are flying in a all directions and I'm trying to get out any sentence that makes sense to try and make up for anything that I did wrong, but Lucy just laughs at me, saying, "Natsu, calm down. I feel the exact same way." She flips her tail, swims in front of me, and leans on my chest. "I love you and I never want to let you go."
"It doesn't have to be a big ceremony. I can call in a favor. I just want to do this right." Lucy kisses my cheek. My face still turns a bit pink when she does that.
"Whatever we do, wherever you go, I will always love you. I want our child to be able to meet their father. I want our child to grow up happy. I want to marry you, Natsu." Lucy beams at me. I grab her waist and run my hands over her soft scales. They're smooth, like a fresh swatch of silk from the East.
I kiss her lips and slowly migrate to her neck. Lucy sighs happily. Her fin flits over my legs, giving me goosebumps. I smile at her. There is no doubt in my mind that I love her.
