A formality

   I sat up in the bed while he slept quietly  his one arm thrown across my waist  my mind raced I wonder if my mom realized I hadn’t been home in two days oh God what about Miranda? Maybe it was for the best I stayed off the grid with her we were in fact worlds apart let alone species

“What’s keeping you up?” he whispers the moonlight making his eyes shimmer  

“Everything, I knew my life was going to change I just wasn’t looking forward to losing things that mattered” he propped up on one elbow yawning

“What am I taking from you?”

“Not you necessarily, just the after effect of being your mate, a Luna”

“Is it about that brunette you hang around with?”  I nod wiping tears away

“She was my rock I don’t know what life will be like without her”

“You won’t have to give her up, besides I do believe she has a mate love”

“A mate? You mean a boyfriend right she’s a human Xander”

  “I know, I mean she has found the love of her life in a wolf in our Pack my sweet I’ll show you him in the morning just try to get some sleep we have a busy day tomorrow” 


“What’s happening tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow I officially announce you as my mate to the Pack”

“Doesn’t everyone already know?”

“It’s just a formality really, I mean you have my mark and everything but it’ll look better if they get a proper introduction” he shook his head “My brothers are dying to meet you”

“Are they like your….”

“Like my mom? Hell no they’re both like my dad I think I'm adopted I'm not a thing like either one of them, make you feel better butterfly?”

“ Not even a little jerk!  You just made it worse what if I screw it up?!”

“You won’t screw up Abigail you’re too perfect you said it yourself, the pack already knows you”

“They don’t even like me”

“You’ll be surprised who does and who doesn’t Kassandra and her little hive aren’t the only ones   in my- our Pack”     

“Xander…”

“Yeah Beautiful”

“Don’t let them laugh at me”

“Never” he kissed my forehead and my wolf was already yearning for him  even though it was far too early for those kind of shenanigans  “ Your safe with me doll I won’t let anyone make you cry”
 I snuggled close in his bare chest relishing in the warmth as his hold tightened  

“Xander”

“Doll you’re seriously keeping me from sleep” he chuckled in the darkness “Go ahead babe ask me”

“I'm sorry it’s more of an observation”

“And that observation is my Queen?”

“I’m your wife”

he snickered quietly “ Yeah babe you’re my little nerdy wife”


“And you’re my super  sexy annoying husband”

“You just called me sexy”

“Don’t let it go to your head I also called you annoying ”

“Shh let me dream”

I chuckle “Goodnight Xander”

“Night my nerdy Queen”

 When the sun washed upon my  face I awoke to sparks they enveloped  my senses , my entire body filled with the sensations ‘mate’ my wolf   pranced around excitedly  . Opening one eye I was aware of Xander’s fingers trailing the curve of my hip   running all the way down to my feet where they danced along the bottom of my foot I kicked at his teasing digits    “ Good morning my Queen”

“I swear I'm going to castrate you if you don’t stop! Stop Xander” I giggle relishing in the sparks   at last he stopped laying shirtless beside his muscles distracting every fiber of my being “We can’t do this anymore huh?”

“If mating is what you’re asking then yeah we can  more often than you think” he smirks “ I’ll always find time for that”

“No I mean for the dates, for the romance, for being a normal couple” I gesture to us laying there

He shrugged “ I’ll do everything in my power to keep us together … Happily” he smiled at me  his large palm caressing my face 

“How long do I have left as your little secret?”

“An hour or two” he replied  his fingers continuing their assault on my stomach until tears rolled down my eyes  I squirmed desperate to escape I shove at his chiseled chest my wolf dancing at the brief contact “Xander” I squealed breathlessly

“God I love your giggle its sexier than your moan, only by very little though”
 
“Stop or I'm going to bite the hell out of you”

“Do it babe I like it when you talk dirty to me”

“Oh shut the hell up” I curl in a ball hoping that would keep them at bay  but he just shifted slightly towering over me  nibbling at my neck I sigh unable to resist “ You don’t play fair”

“All’s fair in love and war”  The door opened and I curl instinctively into his chest he kissed my mark  and I was filled with a sudden wish that we were alone  “Clayton” his teasing tone became entirely humorless unlike the last twenty minutes 

“Alpha Xander, Luna Abigail” I peek up past Xander’s shoulder  and spotted  his blonde haired beta  he seemed to  be more at ease now,   than he had been the  first time we were in each other’s presence “ I'm sorry for interrupting but Xander you have some paperwork it’s from the Shadow  bound Pack”

“Alright thanks” with that informal dismissal    he gave a quick nod and disappeared   “ I’ll see you later on love”

“What am I supposed to do all day?”

He raised an eyebrow “What did you do back when you hated me in all my sexy glory?”

I shove him “ I hung out with Miranda my mom migrates from countries quite a bit leaving me to my lonesome  my siblings have all acquired mates  its awkward being around newly mated couples they can’t keep their hands off each other”  

Xander kissed me biting softly on my bottom lip I  allow him entrance. Our tongues dancing for dominance, I surrendered braiding my fingers through his dark hair. Gently he rose pushing me lightly onto my back   his hands impatiently ripped his shirt from my body, a dress on my form   when I pulled away for air he bit down on my mark and I moan locking my legs around his waist.  He growled possessively before tossing me the cover    those sapphires slowly returning “Like that?” he smirked evilly before heading for the door

Angrily I launch a pillow his way “You bastard get back here” he snickered catching it effortlessly  

“I’ll take care of you tonight after the gathering my Queen I promise but for now I have work that I can’t put off” 

“Xander! If you leave this room!”

“I love you too Abbi” and I growled calling him every curse I knew for leaving me so wound up

Two can play that game I smirk just you wait
