It was a perfect day for a wedding. The skies were clear and there was a cool breeze in the air. Everyone who was anyone in Maine and Alden's lives were in attendance, each one clearing their schedules just to be there that day.
The church was decked in pink and yellow carnations, the aisle lined with white petals, just as the bride wanted. There were no other fancy decors, save for the fairy lights adorning the chairs they would be sitting on in front of the altar. It was a strange request from her, but it was what she wanted, so they went ahead with it.
Everything was smooth-sailing, from the string quartet who he flew in from abroad to play the wedding march, to the flower girls and ring bearers who didn't need assistance from the ushers to walk on the aisle. Not one of the bridesmaids or groomsmen tripped or fell, and everyone, even the photographers and video crew had the happiest of smiles plastered on their faces.
And when the doors of the church opened to reveal Maine in her exquisite wedding dress, everyone collectively gasped. If angels existed, there was no doubt that at that moment, with the rays of the sun peeking through the church windows, she was among those who were sent down to earth.
And as per usual, Alden was in tears upon first sight of his bride.
The ceremony was traditional in every sense, save for a few moments where Maine would act silly or Alden would throw his head back in giggles because of her quirky little antics.
One thing that she asked to be different though was the reading of the vows, as she wanted to say hers first. Let's end the wedding with a bang, she told her wedding organizers weeks before.

The church fell silent, save for a few guests who were sniffling after Alden delivered his vows. He looks up from the paper he's holding and sees Maine wiping her tears with shaking hands as she looks straight into his eyes. He folds the sheet and shoves it in his suit's pocket, before reaching out for her hand.
She flashes him a toothy grin, but the tears didn't stop flowing.
Tahan na, Mahal, he mouthed as they both turn to the priest. Her grip on his hand was stronger, and as Father Reyes began to read the final words of the ceremony, he looked over to find her heaving deep breaths, one after another, her shoulders rising and falling with each one.
He shifted his focus to the altar and he finally hears the words he's been waiting for five years to hear.
"I now pronounce you, husband and wife. Richard, you may now finally kiss your bride."
Alden turns to Maine and slowly lifts her veil to see Maine take another deep breath. She closed her eyes and for a split-second, he was taken aback at how gorgeous she was, even if her eyes are a bit puffy and red.
He cups her face with his hands and goes in for a hug, wrapping his arms around her petite frame. He places his hand to cradle her head, like a fragile little child, like he has always done before.
He puts his head on her shoulders and then whispers in her ear.
"Salamat, RJ. Maraming salamat."
