*Note: hey so I think I'm gonna stop doing character perspectives for a while and just do third person narratives because they are so easy and I feel like I'm better at those than character perspectives*
"Hello?"
The phone had been ringing for a good five minutes. It would have been six minutes had Lena not gotten out of the shower quick enough.
"Hi Lee." A rough, Cockney accented voice spoke from the other line.
Lena smiled.
"Hi Roger. How are you doing?"
"I'm well. I just decided to call you and say I miss you. Are you still living in Arizona?"
"Yes, I am still in here in Arizona. Why do you ask?"
"Well, I want to see you again."
Silence
Roger speaks up. "It's great to hear your voice again, when you're not singing–Not that I don't love hearing you sing, I do, but sometimes I just want to hear you talk. I've bought all your records and watch your show religiously, Lee. You've become everyone's favorite lady, but..."
"But what, Roger?"
"You were my favorite lady first."
Lena thought back to those joyful memories of her and Roger. How they used to mess around in the garden behind their cottage, that time Roger bought a crab as a pet and let it roam around freely, much to Lena's displeasure. And even though thinking of those memories made Lena smile, they weren't enough to keep her from remembering the day when Roger had told her that he was cheating on her with some woman. Sasha, was it? Lena's happy mood shifted to one of sadness and anger.
"And who's your favorite now, Rog? Sasha?"
Roger says nothing. Lena, the anger getting to her head, decides to push it a little further.
"How is Sasha by the way? Has she given you what I obviously couldn't?"
"I wouldn't know. Nora from the bookstore down the road told me she'd left for Australia a month after you'd left for America. For a while, she satisfied some sick need that I had inside me. A need for another woman, when I'd already had the woman of my dreams. My soulmate. You."
Lena didn't regret being a tad nasty to Roger, for if she hadn't been, she would've never heard Roger be so...raw? Truthful? (Not to say that Roger has been known to lie a lot) She didn't know how to describe it, but an admiration for her past lover grew inside her.
"Lena, I'm in Los Angeles right now. Listen, if you're not busy tomorrow, I could fly down to Phoenix. I don't know what we could do when I get there, maybe talk some more, hah. What I do know is that I've got to see you. I'll bloody go mad if I don't."
Lena didn't really know what to say. 'No you can't come, I'm pregnant and Luca's in rehab.' She could say that, but then she wouldn't see Roger. She was secretly dying to see him. But there was no way she would tell him that.
"Lee? You still there, love?"
"Y-Yes."
"So, me coming to see you, yea or nay?"
Lena laughed, "Yeah, you can. Call me when you land, okay?"
A large smile beamed across Roger's face.
"Okay. I'll see you then. Lee?"
"Yes?"
"I love you."
It took a while for her to say it but Lena ended up saying, "I love you, too." too.
They both hung up their phones. Roger began packing his suitcase. He'd need a few outfits for the three days he'd be staying in Phoenix. He hoped Lena would be okay with him staying that long. And Luca, Jesus, he forgot all about Luca. What's he going to think about his girlfriend's ex-lover coming to stay with them for three days?
Lena rubbed her forehead. She walked back to the bedroom. She passed by a mirror on the way back to her closet. She went back and stared at herself in it. She unraveled the towel she'd wrapped around herself messily, before going to answer the phone. She threw the towel onto the bed, and turned to the side, looking for any signs of a baby bump growing.
She soon gave up, realizing that it was too soon for any development, and went to her closet, in search of an outfit.
Roger went back and forth in his mind over whether he should call Lena back, and cancel because of Luca, or not.
He stopped and thought, 'If I really love her as much as I do, and I do, I wouldn't let any man get in between of us...Then again, she loves Luca. For me to cause a rift between them, possibly causing Lena to be unhappy, that just wouldn't right of me.'The conflict weighed upon Roger's shoulders. Why hadn't he thought of this before calling Lena?

Next Day
-----Lena arrived at the airport at twelve in the afternoon. She was a bit early from when Roger told her to pick him up, but that was okay. She got out of her VW Bus and waited for him. She'd have a better chance at spotting him out of the crowd that way. Then again, his hair would count as a way for him to stand out.
Roger strolled out of the airport with his suitcase rolling behind him. He found Lena resting against a nice blue VW Bus, wearing a lovely white sundress. He thought she looked so beautiful. There was a certain glow about her this time. Roger couldn't put his finger on what it was, and eventually forgot about it.
"Lee!" He called when he'd gotten a little closer to her. He quickened his pace and was there before her.
Lena looked at him in awe. He had gained some muscle. She could see the slight muscle tone of his arm peeking through the tight shirt he wore. His hair was still bouncy and cute. His eyes were still the dreamy blue orbs that had captivated Lena like they always did.
"Hi Lena." Roger leans down some and gives Lena a kiss on the cheek. He then wipes some sweat off his brow. "Phew. Sure is hot down here in Phoenix, innit?"
Lena laughs and offers to put his luggage in the bus, but Roger insists that he must do it, so he does. They get in and head for Lena's humble abode.
