Five-Burglarizing Your Own House? Now, That Just Doesn’t Make Sense
“I’m not sick!” I yell, then right on cue I sneeze. The third day I’m here, of course I would get sick.
“Bless you.” Bart smirks, tucking the blankets in. I snap his hands away, growling. I cant be sick! It’s just allergies! Maybe I’m allergic to vampires…
Clinton snorts. “It’s impossible to be allergic to vampires.”
“Clinton! Stop that!” I scream, then sneeze again. I haven’t been sick in five years! Why now?
All five boys stare at me with worried looks. I groan and sink into my not so comfortable bed. “Guys, listen. I really am fine. It’s just a small cold. It won’t pass on to you.”
Edward chuckles softly. “Vampires don’t get sick.”
“Of course they don’t. So stupid of me.” I mutter sarcastically, rolling my eyes. “Really, so I’m just gonna get out of bed now and-OOOF!” Charles hand pushes me back onto the springy mattress.
I give a hard glare at him. “Why?”
“You need rest.”
“I don’t!”
“But you do.”
“But I don’t!”
“Stop denying it.”
“I’m not denying anything! I’m fine!” I huff, glaring at Charles. “I’m. Fine.”
Henry sighs, sitting on the side of my bed. “Would you like me to read you a story?”
My gaze snaps to him. He’s serious? “I’m not five, Henry.” He smirks, while they others snicker.
“Once upon a time…” He starts, making his brothers laugh.
“Henry!” I growl, slapping a hand over his mouth. “As much as I want to hear your pathetic story, I need to eat something. I haven’t ate anything all day.” Maybe changing the subject will get me outta this mess…
“Here, I brought some food.” Bart chirps, shoving a five star meal into my lap. Gee, thanks Bart, I think sarcastically.
Clinton starts coughing on air, making everybody’s gaze snap to him. After he’s done with his coughing fit, he gives Charles a funny look, which makes Charles go beet red.
Whoa, hold the phone. Charles blushed? Everybody seems to understand what just happened except for me.
“Um…what the hell just happened?” Charles and Clinton immediately look at me.
“I thought I swallowed a bug.” Clinton replies quickly. Too quickly. I narrow my eyes. “Filthy lies.”
He seems shocked. “What?”
“I said, filthy lies. You said that way too quickly. But, I let it go for now…” Another sneeze.
“Bless you.” Each brother says while I roll my eyes. They’re like the brothers I never wanted.
“Hey!” Clinton mocks hurt.
“Clinton if you read one more thought from my head you will wake up in a crappy hotel, in a crappy city, along the coast of Spain.” I say dangerously calm, making him look at me.
“You can do that?”
“That’s just the beginning.” I smile, making Bart burst into laughter.
“Geez. I wonder what you did to your boyfriends when they broke up with you.” Charles mutters. I give him a weird look but he shrugs. “Just saying.”
“Well, there was this one time when Paul broke up with me, so I sent him to Antarctica, but he thought he was going to Florida. Nell helped me with that one.” I smile from the memory. Damn that Paul. He broke up with me in a week, so Nell thought we should get payback.
Bart bursts into laughter again, falling onto my bed. “I could totally see you doing that, Nora!”
“Well, I think I’m going to read a book now, so if you’ll excuse me…” Charles hand appears in my vision, sending me sailing back to my bed.
“You need rest.”
“Charles!” I groan. “For the 826th time I am fine!” Another sneeze.
“Bless you.” Edward smirks, shaking his head.
Groaning, I climb into my bed snuggling into the covers. Clinton starts choking again, and Charles turns beet red again.
Am I missing something here?
“What is up with you two?” I ask aloud, my eyebrows knitting together.
Charles’s eyes lock with mine. “Nothing.”
“Right, so he just starts choking for no apparent reason and you start blushing like an idiot for no apparent reason. And that’s nothing?” I snap sarcastically, not even caring I’m talking to a vampire who could easily rip my heart out in five seconds flat.
He turns red again, then walks out of the room with a huff. He’s still got that rock in his shoe. Or maybe he’s bipolar? Sighing, I close my eyes and sink my head into the pillow. I’ll figure out what’s up with him sooner or later. Peeking out of one eye, four of the five brothers are still there watching me.
“Am I a display case or what?”
Bart cracks up in laughter again, even though I was being serious. Trying hard to fight a smile, Henry says, “We just wanted to make sure your okay.”
“Do I look okay?”
Henry looks me up and down, nodding in approval. “Yep. Nighty night sweetheart.”
I grimace. “You sound like my dad.”
“I’m probably old enough to be your great, great, great grandfather, so I think it’s appropriate.” Henry casually walks out of the room, smirking smugly at himself.
“Well, I’m gonna go study some more to see why…well, you know. Night, Nora.” Clinton waves, exiting the room.
"Sweet dreams." Edward calls out, turning on his heel and leaving the room.
“Call me if you need anything.” Bart says, smiling.
“Bye Bart.”
“Night Nora.”
I yawn, then sneeze. Damn. My eyes slowly droop, and that’s when I notice I really am tired. I drift off into a peaceful sleep…
======
I wake up to a loud crash. My heartbeat raising, I slip out of my bed. Glancing at my clock, it reads 6:45am. Shit, I slept through the whole night? Grabbing the nearest think I could find, which happened to be a high heel, I slowly creep out of my room.
Hearing another loud crash and some swearing, I gulp. It came from the kitchen. Slowly heading down the curvy stairs, I stop in front of the kitchen, holding my breath. The lights are out, which makes this tougher.
It’s not hard to hit a burglar, right? Just smack him over the head and be done with it. Hearing another crashing sound makes me jump, but luckily not scream. “Oh shit!” A voice groans.
One…
Two…
Three…
I jump into the kitchen, swinging my heel around crazily. Seeing the mystery man near the fridge, I crack the heal onto his head.
“Fuck!” The deep voice growls, rubbing his head. The lights flick on.
It shows Charles looking extremely pissed off.
