After a long needed sleep, I smell breakfast.
"Wake up, Mama! Wake up!" Annaliese screams in my ear. "Mama, Daddy and I made breakfast."
When I open my eyes, I can see a huge tray of breakfast held out in front of me.
Zac laughs, "Well, this is not quite the breakfast in bed that I was planning."
"I love it." I kiss him, morning hair and all.
"Eww." Annaliese makes a disgusted face.
"So, are the cupcakes ready for your class?" I ask Annaliese after pulling away from Zac.
"Yeah, but there is this one kid who is mean. He always teases me and won't quit pulling my hair."
"Oh, Honey that means he likes you."
Zac reaches behind him. "That's why we put a little extra kick to his cupcake. This ought to teach him to pick on my princess." He pulls out a bottle... of laxatives!
"Zachary Jamison!" I scold.
"Did I say how beautiful you look today?"
"No."
"Well, I have been slacking, because you should always hear it. I lo-" He was cut off by the noise of our front door.
"I'll get it!" Annaliese yells. "Mommy, some pretty man is here."
Zac gives me a questing gaze. "Anyone I should be worried about?"
"Only If you start looking ugly and getting slow. Go!" Zac knows what I mean, we always race to the entrance way. I get there just after Zac does. Before we go to the door, we can hear Annaliese.
"So, are you a friend of my mommy?"
"Hello?" Zac ask the stranger.
"Are you Mr. Jamison?" Kyle.
"I am, but most refer to me as Dr. Jamison. And you are?"
"Kyle Peters." I introduce while walking in to the room. Zac knows who Kyle really is.
"Come in." Zac greets.
We go into the living room. Zac and I sit on a love seat. While Kyle and Annaliese sit on a sofa. Wow, you can really see the resemblance when they are right next to one another. Zac insist that Annaliese favors me, I see Kyle.
"So, what brings you around?" Zac ask getting straight to the point.
"Brittany stole my heart-I mean limousine. She left her wallet in hers." Kyle stretches out my shiny blue wallet.
"So, how old are you, Ladybug?" Kyle ask Annaliese. Before I could stop her, Annaliese answers.
"I am five, my birthday is on February the third." Kyle does the mental math in his head. His eyes burn with accusations as he stares me down. We carry on with light conversation until Zac decides to take Annaliese to bed.
"You didn't tell me I had a daughter!" Kyle screams.
I don't want him to ruin my family, so I lie. "She isn't yours."
This infuriates Kyle. He marches over to me and shoves me against a wall. He leans down in my face.
"First, you leave me without a word. Then, we are pregnant and you failed to notify me. Oh, and some stranger is parenting my child."
"What we have is in the past, Kyle. Don't even act heartbroken. We didn't get pregnant, I got pregnant. And Zac is a better father than you'd ever be."
"I am not acting heartbroken, Sweetheart, you're looking at a live picture. You can't tell me our relationship is over, you know you still shiver when I touch you, when I whisper in your ear, or when I kiss you. Do you ever wonder why I have done what I've done?" He references to his occupation. "It isn't because I like the fame or fortune. It is because I miss you. And believe it or not, all the women in the world can't erase you. Believe me, Honey, I've tried. And Zac can go to hell, because he stole everything from me. You're right, he is a better father because he has had the chance!" By the end of his rant Kyle is screaming in my face.
He leans in and pulls me close. His soft lips tease mine in a fight for dominance. Time has stopped and I am left breathless. When we pull away I slap Kyle. I didn't slap him because of the kiss, I slapped him because I liked the kiss. Kyle is left holding his jaw.
After all of that I can only think of one word, "Leave."
"Okay, Brittany. I'll leave now but I will return soon." He warns.
I can hear the click of the front door. "Should we discuss this, of can I kick his ass now?" Zac's voice rings with anger.
Instead of apologizing I say, "How much did you see?"
"Enough," he huffs while stepping closer. "I don't want to fight. I just want to know if you love me."
"I do, I love you. I'll show you."
"How?" He doubts me.
"I can show you better than I can tell you." Before be can respond I drag him to our bedroom. Please get Kyle out of my head!
