"Mommy, let's go to the park!" I say, giggling as I jump onto her bed. Being six, I found everything to be something I could laugh or giggle at. Not to mention that I could wake up at nine in the morning just so I could go to the park. "Please?"
My mother probably hated me for waking her up for something so silly, but despite her groaning she soon got up and we headed to the nearest park.
As soon as we got there I ran over to the swings. "Come push me mommy!" I grin up at her. My mother smiles and makes her way over to me, gripping the seat in her tired hands as she begins to push me. I smile as I feel the morning wind blowing through my messy, dark brown curls. My mother stops pushing me when one of her work friends waves her over.
"I'll be right back sweetie, don't go anywhere." I pout softly as I watch her walk away. Now who's going to push me on the swings? As I wait impatiently for my mom to get back, I see someone sit down in the swing next to me. I turn to my left and see an older boy with dirty blond hair and some sort of ring stuck in his lip. I grip the chains in my small hands, not knowing what to do. My mother always told me not to talk to strangers.
"Was that your mom?" When he speaks, I look back at him, slightly confused. Was he sick? He didn't sound normal.
I nod slightly and look back ahead. I didn't want to get in trouble, especially since my mom is just over there.
"She's very pretty, just like you. Let me guess, you're a princess." A small gasp falls from my lips, turning to look at the strange speaking male figure next to me. How did he know that I was a princess? That's what my mom always calls me. Of course, I wasn't a true princess, but I didn't know that.
"How did you know?" I ask quietly, still not trusting him.
"I just did." The words fall from his lips. I smile wide and let out a soft giggle. "Then you must be a prince."
"Indeed I am." The way he says it makes me giggle more. My feet sway back and forth as they dangle above the dirt.
"Since you're a princess, it's only right that I push you on the swing."
