Madeline opened her eyes and saw him standing there. "Hey there," she said, blushing as she met his kind hazel eyes. "Hi Del," Ozzie said as he walked over and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Madeline giggled as he was about 3 inches taller than her and had to crouch down slightly. "I've missed you so much, Ozzie," Madeline said, as she tiptoed and ruffled his curly black hair.
"So what's our plan for today?" he asked as they sat on a bench that seemingly came out of nowhere. They sat in silence for a while. It was clear Ozzie was thinking, he had a concentrated expression that Madeline knew. She studied his face carefully. His well-defined jawline, his freckles sprinkled all over, his caramel-colored hazel eyes, his shaggy black hair. Madeline was hopelessly in love with him, but she knew he would never think of her like that in reality.
"Oh!" Ozzie said suddenly, breaking the silence. "How about theme park?" he asked. "I-I'm terrified of roller coasters." said Madeline, trying to hide behind her untamed brown hair. "Don't worry Del, I'll be there for you." he said, putting an arm around Madeline, which instantly made her feel better. "Only for you, Ozzie." she said as his eyes lit up and he broke into a grin. "Come on, do it!" he cried. "Oh, fine," Madeline said, closing her eyes and imagining they were at a theme park on a breezy summer's day with a clear blue sky.
When she opened her eyes, she and Ozzie were in the middle of a crowded theme park with neon colors all around them. Clothes, rides, roofs, lakes, all shimmering in the summer sun. She and Ozzie walked around for a while, occasionally riding a ride or two. Ozzie went up to one of the workers and asked where the scariest rollercoaster was. "Oh come on, Del!" he said as they approached "The Anvil". "It's kinda scary if you think about it!" Madeline replied, pointing at the ride, which was simple a merry-go-round with carts instead of horses. "Del, we both know you can do better," Ozzie said, crossing his arms and pouting his lips, which instantly made Madeline's heart melt. "Some other time. Bye Ozzie" Madeline said, walking up to him and kissing him before forcing herself to wake up.
She sat upright in her bed and looked over to her left. The small clock she kept by her bed read 6:03. Madeline dragged herself out of bed and to her bathroom. She filled up a cup with water, dipped her toothbrush in it, and then applied toothpaste. After she had brushed her teeth, she took a cold shower, as she couldn't afford hot water. "What to wear today," she said sarcastically as she opened up her "glamorous" closet. She dressed herself and looked into her mirror, with deep cracks stretching from corner to corner. Looking back at her stood a girl with brown eyes and hair, with freckles spread over her cheeks and nose. She walked out the door to face the hell that she knew as Stansbury High School.
