You looked around the sandy beach, making sure that no one followed you nor were there was anyone around the area. Quickly you scattered behind a large gray boulder and squatted down, not caring if the water soaked your dress. Looking side to side, you slowly peaked over the boulder and smiled. There, lounging on the slab of rock with his bright, red locks flowing through the ocean breeze, was Aryn, your best mer-friend. You smiled as you watched his green tail move fluently with the tides and small waves as he hummed a tune. You had to admit, best male singer you have ever heard. After a minute of staring, you shook your head and went into position. Slowly and steadily, you crept up to Aryn. Just when you were close enough, you smirked and took a deep breath. "Boo!" You yelled, followed by a fit of laughter.

"Gah!" He yelled as he fell into the water. You laughed even harder and toppled onto the slab. Through teary eyes, you saw the merman huff as his head came out of the water. "Not cool (Y/n)!" He shouted and gave an adorable pout. Laughter turned into giggles as you looked at him, wiping away the tears of joy.
"I'm sorry Aryn! But you were just so vulnerable for that little scare!" You giggled out. You sighed as you adjusted yourself onto the moistened slab, laying on your stomach with your arms supporting you. "So tell me," you began as Aryn swam right in front of you. "How's life under the sea for you lately?"

He rolled his beautiful sea blue eyes as he began. "Well, Mariana (Sebastian) has been on my tail about coming to rehearsals more often because mom is starting to get on her claws." I giggled as he continued on with his small adventures under the sea. It was nice, knowing that you had a mystical best friend, and pretty good looking one too. You had to admit, but you did have feeling for the mer-man. I mean the way he is so adventurous and always full of fun and hope. You didn't see what was there not to like about him. "Oh! And I found this!" Aryn cheered as he shoved something in front of your face. You were taken aback as your (e/c) orbs adjusted to see what was in front of you.
"Isn't it cool?! Scuttle calls it a dinglehopper!"

You mentally smacked your forehead. 'Of course,' you thought. 'The stupid seagull is to blame.'
"Yeah! He says that you guys use it to brush your hair, see?" Aryn explained as he combed his hair with the fork. You stared at your mer-friend with wide eyes. Is he serious? Is he seriously brushing his hair.....with a fork? Before you could've said anything someone interrupted you. "So! 'Dis is where ya been all 'dis time, huh?!" You heard.

You yelped out and fell into the water. You then felt strong arms being wrapped around your waste and being pulled to the surface. The moment you broke from the water, you gasped for air, coughing as you tried to fill your lungs with the needed oxygen. "Mariana! That was rude! Apologize to (Y/n)!" You heard Aryn yell. When you opened your eyes, you blushed at the closeness between you and Aryn. You took noticed at how the water glistened off his chiseled chest and how his well built arms flexed to keep you afloat. To be honest, you thanked that he did help you, your dress did get a lot heavier when you were underwater.

"So now ya takin' the side of 'da humans huh? If ya moder ever found out you were seeing a human, she be sendin a hurricane on 'dis blasted place!" The red crustacean scolded.
"Would you relax? She's not going to find out!"
"Not yet." Mariana glared.
"Oh would you relax! He didn't do anything harmful." said another voice. You looked down to see a cute, pudgy yellow and blue fish with a flower on her fin. You giggled. "Hello Flora~!" You smiled as you pet the guppy's head.

Flora giggled as she looked up to you. "Hiya (Y/n)! Mariana would you relax! If you don't let her at least do this, she will never be happy."
You looked back up to Mariana, awaiting for her reply. After a minute she sighed. "Alright. Fine. But if ya evah go tellin' da world that you are friends wit a mermaid, there be a hurricane headin' for ya." Mariana threatened as she pointed her large red pinchers at you. "Yes ma'am." You replied, hoping she would nab you.
"Hn." She replied as she went into the water going wherever she was going.

"I better go too, (Y/n)." Aryn said as helped you sit on the slab. "I gotta make sure that she doesn't tell mom that. Hey, maybe next time we can hang out more. And no more scaring me!" You smiled and giggled softly.
"Alright. It's a date." You blushed at the word 'date' as he waved you goodbye before he and Flora dived into the vast sea.
You sighed as you pulled your knees up to your chest and placed your chin on them. "I want to know what's it like down there...." You whispered to yourself as you looked out to the horizon.

"(Y/n)! There you are!" You heard someone call out. You turned around and saw your cousin Erica, princess of these lands. "C'mon (Y/n)! Let's go! I think I saw some interesting street performers and I wanted you to see!" You chuckled as you got off the slab and walked towards her.
"Hey, why is your dress wet? No, why are you soaking wet? Did you swim?"
You laughed as you rubbed the back of your neck. "Gotta love crustaceans right?"
"Don't tell me it was a red crab with humongous claws."
"How did you know?"
"I was sailing one time, and this seagull dropped it onto my ship. I was going to pick it up and throw it back, but it pinched me before I could've done anything!" You both laughed as you headed back into the castle, talking about how crabs were angry little creatures of the seas.
