Everything that has happened with in the past month has been a blur for me. I feel numb, prone to the pain that has been inflicted upon me. The fact that my parents really are gone for good has made me sink to rock bottom, my life has become more harder. I sold the restaurant and I'm debating on if I want to sell my parents house or move in here. But the pain of memories here is overwhelming when ever I step foot in the house to begin packing everything up.
A lawyer contacted me soon after the funeral, speaking of a will that my parents had written. I'm just guessing that they left me everything that they had, since I was their only child and they don't really speak to their other family. I just don't know what I'm going to do here quiet honestly, I have too many memories here.
There was a knock on the door, pulling me out of my thoughts. I set down the photo album that sat on my lap as I sat on my parents worn brown leather couch, a photo of Andrew and I on the main page. I jogged to the door, before straightening my Bring Me the Horizon band shirt before opening the door. A man in a finely tailored black suit stood on the porch, with a black suitcase. His hair was slicked back, his brown eyes tired looking as he cracked a smile at me.
"Hello Ms. Patters, I'm Phil Ogarv from the law firm. I'm here to discuss your parents will with you." Phil said, smiling at me.
Oh shit, that was today? Fuck I forgot about that, if I would have remembered I would have dressed a little more formal.
"Oh yeah. Please come in Mr. Ogarv." I said politely, opening the door more ajar for him to enter.
Swiftly, he enters and begins to make his way into the living room.
"We can go into the dinning room, it's brighter in there." I laughed slightly, moving a piece of fallen hair from out of my eyes.
"Ah yes, perfect." Mr. Ogarv said as he followed me into the dinning room, next to the brightly lit kitchen.
"Could I get you anything to drink?" I asked, standing in the doorway of the kitchen and the dinning room.
"No, no thank you. I'm alright, this shouldn't take too long." He said, pulling out a chair.
I nodded and sat across from him, crossing my legs underneath the table. I watched him take out papers and a folder from the suitcase. I was curious to what my parents were giving me, even though I had a good idea on what I was going to gain.
"Alright. You're parents owned two houses which they are giving you, the restaurant which you have already sold and you will be receiving $34,537 from them all together. Really the only thing you need to do is sign some paperwork to put everything in your name." Mr. Ogarv rambled, pushing paper work in front of me.
It took me a moment to realize that he had said that my parents owned two houses, wait two? I picked up a black fine point pen as I stared at the papers in front of me, trying to figure out why they had owned two houses...
"Wait. Mr. Ogarv, where is the other house that my parent's owned." I questioned, looking up at him slightly confused.
"In Dallas, they never sold the house, just in case things up didn't work out." He simply answered, looking up at me.
I nodded and proceeded to sign the papers accordingly. With everything signed, he handed me over the deeds to both the houses and a large check from my parents. I showed him the front door, and as soon as I shut the door behind him, I took a look at the deed of the house in Dallas. The address was the same to the house that I grew up in...
"HOLY SHIT!" I shrieked and threw the paper onto the table.
My parents never sold the old house... No one else has ever lived in that house but us since we moved. Buy why would they have never told me of such a thing? Was it because I was going to move down there for school? Were they thinking about having me live there instead of on campus? So many burning questions ran through my mind, I wanted answers but I knew I would never know the answers to them.
