Wonderland

Chapter 8

Katya was holding a shrieking Ethan in her arms as she pulled him away from Jean-Luc. Jean-Luc was being held by Daemon as he shrieked too and flailed around. Everyone had been having a good time swimming in the back yard and playing games. Then all of a sudden Ethan had started fighting with Jean-Luc over one of the soccer balls they had.

"Ethan. Baby calm down." Katya tried soothing him as he flailed. He wouldn't listen to her so she held his face in front of her and spoke to him in french.

"My sweet baby, you have to calm down. It was just a soccer ball, there are many more of those if you want more. Now I know you love Jean-Luc like a big brother so you cannot stay mad at him. You only get one of him so make your time the best." Ethan stayed quiet for a while. Then his face broke into tha heart breaking smile of his and he placed a sloppy kiss on Katya's cheek. He giggled and ran towards a now calm Jean-Luc. Jean-Luc smiled and they started playing with the others once again.

Katya stood there watching her kids play happily with Henri, who looked like an over grown child. She loved her little family no matter how odd they could be at times. She was glad they understood her. They had been through some rough things in life already and she only wanted to make things better for them.

Daemon kept an eye on Katya as she stood a few feet away from him. Her black hair was sticking up in every direction. She was wearing black swimming shorts and a pink tankini top. She had her arms crossed and she was biting her bottom lip as she smiled and watched her little family. She was the most gorgeous creature he had ever laid eyes on, and thank the heavens that they gave her to him. He knew she needed time to get to love him and to accept him into her life, but she was already his world, his everything, He just needed to convince her of that and he would love every minute of that challenge. He walked towards her, wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on top of her head. He loved the way she sighed and leaned into him.

Katya snuggled into the warmth and safeness of Daemon's embrace. Something she knew she could not live without. Katya knew that Daemon thought she didn't love him like she knew he loved her, but he was wrong. She loved him so much already. The only thing standing in her way was her past and how it affected her today. She knew it was something she should be able to move past at this point in her life, but she really couldn't. She still had some work to do in making things right. And until then she wouldn't be able to do anything major with her life.

"Should I start getting the food on the grill already?" Daemon asked softly. Katya smiled as she kept watching her little one's play.

"Yes, please. They will get hungry soon if they aren't already. And those kids eat a lot for such little things." Katya chuckled as she pulled away from Daemon to start heading inside. Daemon grabbed onto her hand and stopped her.

"Where are you going?" He asked curiously.

"To start on dessert." he pouted a little and Katya smiled. "I shouldn't be long."

"Good. I like having you next to me." Katya smiled shyly and heading into her home as soon as Daemon let her go.

Katya started working on her dessert, taking her time to put love into everything. She remembered her  mother would make sure to do that whenever she was cooking, so Katya followed that. It was something that brought her closer to her mother even if she wasn't there. Katya hadn't realized how much time she had spent making the cupcakes and truffles until Daemon walked in with a huge tray of meat. She looked up when she heard him laughing, it was such a beautiful sound to her.

"What?" she asked curiously.

"You have flour and chocolate all over your face, sweetheart." she laughed too as she wiped her face with the back of her hand and felt more chocolate rub off on her face.

"I'm almost finished here, just need a few finishing touches." she said as she got back to work. She felt Daemon come stand behind her. She felt his body heat and his breath against her neck. And god that did things to her body. It was a little difficult to concentrate on her truffles while Daemon felt so good behind her.

"Mind if I have a taste?" Daemon asked, his voice husky. Katya swallowed audibly before she shook her head. She grabbed the truffle she was working on and turned around. She looked up at Daemon. He opened his mouth and she placed the truffle on his tongue. He closed his mouth and gently sucked on the tips of her fingers. Katya's breath hitched as she pulled her fingers away slowly. He groaned as he savored the truffle.

"That was so good." she smiled, feeling proud that he liked her food.

"Thank you." she smiled as she turned around and quickly finished her truffles before she started breparing all of the other food. She served her kiddos their food and made sure there was more ready of what they liked. Then she served Henri and Daemon. She set all the plates on the table before serving herself. She was vegeterian, and she was surprised when she found Daemon had cooked tofu for her. Most people assumed she was a carnivore. She smiled as she put the tofu on her plate, set her plate on the table then went out to call her munchkins in. They ran inside excitedly and sat on the table, chattering away about their game. She loved this, having everyone here; her six kiddos, Henri, Daemon. This was bliss. This was her family, and she knew that soon enough Daemon would be joining them permanently.

She couldn't wait for that day.
