I woke up and saw that my roommate was gone. Leaving our room, I walked to the main room; my other two roommates were sitting on the couch doing work. I walked to the bathroom, craving a shower. My compulsive showering was officially back. I used to shower two or three times a day after Peter…over the summer I got better at it, but now…I’m back to two showers a day.

My roommates had no idea what was going on; neither did my family. This story hasn’t been covered on the news yet. I was thankful because that meant I could keep it a secret, which meant my life could be “normal” for a bit longer. Getting out of the shower I towel dried my hair.

“Anna, there’s a boy here for you,” one of my roommates called.

I walked out expecting Peter, but saw Greg.

“How did you know where I live?” I asked.

“Your friend Cody,” Greg said as he took in the room.

“Okay, uh, what’s up?” I asked.

“I thought I could give you a ride to class. You know since we are in the same class…” Greg said trailing off.

“That’s sweet. Thanks. I am just getting ready,” I said as I went into my room and changed quickly. I grabbed my bag and was out to the main room.

“You ready?” Greg said turning to see me.

“Yeah,” I smiled.

“You look nice,” Greg said.

“Thanks but I’m just wearing a tank top and shorts, nothing fancy,” I said.

“You don’t take compliments do you? Just you seemed shocked at each one I give,” Greg noted.

“You’re observant aren’t you,” I said.

“Just detail oriented,” Greg shrugged.

“Cool, I’m just going to text Peter and tell him I am fine without him today,” I said.

“What do you mean?” Greg asked.

I silently swore at myself for saying that.

“I just mean, that, he, you know, is…my safe person…” I said pulling it right out of my ass.

“Safe person?” Greg asked skeptically.

“Yeah, someone you can rely on,” I said then headed towards the door so hopefully he would drop it.

“I am reliable,” Greg said.

“Cute, really, but I don’t know you yet,” I said a bit coldly.

“Damn, did it drop like ten degrees?” Greg said sarcastically.

“Sorry, something to know, I am short tempered and have lost my filter. I am impulsive and say what I think without really thinking about what I’m saying,” I explained.

“I followed that, but okay. Cool, so anytime your hostile towards me I won’t take it personally,” Greg said.

“Yeah. Gosh who the hell are you? Why are you being nice to me?” I asked.

“I am Greg, and I am being nice to you because we bonded over math yesterday,” Greg replied smartly.

“You’re a smart ass you know that,” I said rolling my eyes.

“I know,” Greg said almost glowing with pride.

Getting in the car, Greg turned on music; it was rock ‘n roll. Thank god he had good taste in music or else I would have been one unhappy camper on the way to class.
