The next day I sleep in until noon. I would've slept another two hours, but Mom said that I had to be "productive" today, and get up. I argued that I was only resting my teen mind, but she didn't buy it. Really, I was sore and tired from running around the forest. Never in my life would I chase a boy older than me through the woods, who was also chasing my brother with a Nerf gun. But I guess it happened.

I stay in my pajamas as I trudge down the stairs. The cold wood feels weird against my bare feet as I walk down. The birds are chirping, and I can see Mom making lunch as I look over.

I wasn't hungry, so I walked into the den. Plopping down on the sofa, I click on the TV. Today was Thursday, wasn't it? That means Amanda isn't doing any sports or things today. I reach over and grab my phone. I check my messages.

There was one, from Amanda. It read, "Wake up sleepy head :)"

I type back, "Howd you know I was asleep?"

   "Ur always sleeping."

   "True. What's up?"

   "Watching TV with my dog."

I look around me, just remembering about Shelby. I need to feed her before she comes over to me and does her loud hungry meow. I message back, "brb. Need to feed my cat before she kills me."

I stand to my feet and toss my phone on the couch. I walk into the kitchen and start pouring some food into her empty bowl. Her water dish was full, so I ignored that.

"Mrrow," I hear behind me. I turn to see Shelby walking in, sniffing the food. Then she plants her bottom and digs in.

   "You're welcome," I mutter.

I hear a popping sound from my phone. Amanda texted me again, I figured. I pet Shelby on the head on more time before returning to the couch, where my natural habitat is. The TV is on Disney Channel, with the show Gravity Falls. I actually didn't mind that little kid show. It was kind of funny. I loved Mabel.

I unlock my phone, to read a text from Amanda that says, "Back yet?"

   "Yup. So, how's Brandon?"

Brandon was Amanda's boyfriend, which I was happy for her about. But I have to admit, sometimes when I saw them together I wanted a boyfriend for my own. They were to happy together, and an an argument was rare between them. They've been together for two years at least. They got together two summers ago.

"Good :) he took me to a pizza place yesterday for a date."

"Aw! Ur lucky to have him."

"Ik. So. . . have you found anybody yet?"

"Lol it's funny for you to think I would have a chance. No, I haven't. I've only been here for a week, Amanda."

"Alright but if u do u have to tell me, ok?"

"The first one," I promise, pressing the send button.

For a few minutes, she doesn't text back. Then I see a picture that she'd sent. I clicked on it to open the picture. It was a photo of Brandon, waving and smiling at the camera. He looks like he was in the doorway to her house.

   "Brandon's here!" Amanda messages.

"I see that haha :) hanging out?"

   "Yeah."

Then there's another text from her. "It's bradon, from amandas phone."

"Lol you spelt your name wrong."
