"What the hell is this? It looks like a big block with numbers!" My mom yells, scrunching her face up at the unusual brick shaped contraption on my kitchen table. After the concert we all came back to my house to have a little party. We invited the whole staff- except Karen the gargoyle of course- to have a little soirée for the amazing show that happened tonight.

"It's called a cell phone! It's the biggest thing in technology right now, pretty soon everyone is gunna have one of these gizmos. You get 30 minutes of talk time and only have to charge it for ten hours! It's amazing!" One of the drummers says, marveling at the heavy block.

"Ay who's gunna want to lug around a phone all day? I give it a year or two, everyone's gunna forget about cell phones." She grabs her beer and walks away. "Maldito cell phones. Who the fuck comes up with these things!"

I laugh at her and continue to mingle with the staff members and band members. Everyone loved the mini duet that Michael set up. Even though I was unprepared we still played it off. I know for sure the tabloids will be talking about that tomorrow.

I make myself a martini because I haven't had one in ages and sip on it, the sweet bitter aroma filling my nostrils.

I missed this. Why did I ever switch you out for wine?

I spot Michael talking to some people and I walk over to him. I didn't really have much time to talk to him after our duet so I didn't get to congratulate him.

"Hey!" Michael says, giving me a warm hug. "Thank you for having this little get together. It was very nice of you."

I wave him away. "Oh it's nothing. You all did fabulous tonight why wouldn't I do this for you all! But I should be the one thanking you Michael. That was so great what you did for me tonight."

Michael smiles. "Hey it was no problem. But the one you should thanking is Sheryl, she's the one who gave up singing tonight's show for you." He chuckles, and I turn to Sheryl, who's beaming at me.

"Thank you Sheryl, I honestly didn't even know I was gunna sing tonight! I hope you didn't mind."

"Oh not at all ! I was honored! I mean, you're one of my inspirations aside from Michael, and it was amazing to see you guys perform. The chemistry was surreal up there." Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

I smile again and excuse myself, walking upstairs to my room to get a little bit of quietness. I laid out in my Egyptian chaise and closed my eyes for a moment. Only to be interrupted five seconds later by a knock on my door.

"Who is it?"

"Michael."

"Come in."

I hear the door open softly, then close. With my eyes still closed I feel Michael sitting next to me on the chaise. "Why are you up here alone?"

"Oh I just wanted a moment to myself. I'm not used to being so nice and talking to so many people it kinda took a toll on me." I chuckle, half serious. "Why are you up here?"

"Well your mom started playing music and is trying to become one of my backup dancers."

I sit up. "She's not doing the running man is she?"

Michael nods his head. "Yep. She's also doing the cabbage patch. It's really a sight. Your mom is a trip I swear." He laughs.

I laugh with him and get up, walking to the bathroom to wash my face. Once I finish I walk back out and see Michael looking through my records.
