One Week Later....

"It has been a grueling week for the infamous superstar Rose, who has been accused of embezzlement and fraud last year. If guilty she'll be sentenced to 20 years in an high security prison, and her reputation will be gone also. Rumor has it that singer Michael Jackson is also here to show support for his girlfriend, which was a shock to everyone when news broke out of them dating. Sources say that they were even engaged! With Rose sporting a huge emerald diamond ring lately. All I know is that if Rose goes to jail, there will be no wedding anytime soon. Now let's talk about this trial, the verdict is coming up within a few days and people are still on the fence about whether she's guilty or not. Jan, what do you have to say about this?" The reporter on the television asks.

"Turn it off." I state, not wanting to hear about people's opinions. Jameson turns it off and I groan, putting my face against the cool wood table.

If I just lay here long enough, maybe people will forget about me.

"Mija." My mom rubs my back. "Here's some water. You're shaking."

"I've been shaking since I've heard about these accusations mom, that's nothing new."

"Still. Drink it." My mom says sternly, and I raise my head up just enough to sip a little, then go right back to laying down.

I hear my mom sigh, and walk away. "No se Chico. No se."

I feel Michael stand beside me, and strokes my fingers.

"What Michael..." I say, tired.

"You need to get up now. You're due in 20 minutes." He whispers.

"Michael I'm tired." It was the truth, I was tired. Emotionally, physically, and mentally tired. I haven't slept in three days, I haven't ate much, all I've had to eat was some grapes and whiskey, and even with that it didn't feel like anything.

It was like I was immune to everything. Immune to sleep, food, alcohol, just everything. I just wanted this nightmare to end.

"I know you are baby, I know, but you have to get up. They're doing the final testimonies today, and it'll be short so you won't be there all day."

"That's what y'all said yesterday! And the day before!" I yell, my emotions taking over. "Why can't we just find out if I'm guilty or not?! Everyone's been wondering for the past three months, why can't we fucking come to a decision?!"

Michael tries to grab my hand but I snatch it away. I honestly wasn't in the mood to be comforted. I just wanted to be alone.

Michael looked a little bit hurt at my reaction, seeing I'm usually responsive to his touches in a positive way.

I sigh, and get up. "Look Michael—"

He puts his hand up, "I understand." He walks towards the waiting room door and opens it. "It's okay Rosie, I'm not mad at you. I'll leave you alone." Michael walks out the door, closing it behind him.

I look around the waiting room and realize I wasn't alone. My mother, father, lawyer, and detective were all still in here, and I was embarrassed.

"Can I please... Just have a moment alone?" I ask quietly. Everyone nods and scurries out of the room and I close the door, locking it.

My back against the door I look up to the ceiling, a million thoughts running through my mind. I didn't realize I was lying on the floor at this moment, because I was numb. Numb to everything. This trial was draining the life out of me and I was letting it happen. I wasn't myself anymore.
