"Alright so here's the plan. After the New Year you'll be flown to Boston for the preliminary hearing, which from there you'll be receiving your court date, and we'll have to see what happens from there. All we can do is hope." Bradley says, and everyone agrees.

"Who can I bring with me?" I ask, flipping through a Cosmo magazine for the tenth time. We've been here all day and it's just been the same shit all day, 'You gotta go here to do this, you gotta go there to do that, blah blah blah.' I could've stayed in New York for this.

"Well any immediate family, but that's it." Jameson says, scribbling something on his notepad. "If they aren't blood related, they can't come."

I look up from my magazine, and sit up. "What are you implying?"

"I'm saying that your little boyfriend cannot come and see you when you go to Boston. He'll just have to wait until the trial is over."

"But who the fuck knows when the trial will be over!" I raise my voice, and clear my throat right after. "I'm sorry, but I don't see why he can't at least visit me at the hotel or something."

"We don't want this to snowball into something worse in the press." Bradley chirps, and I roll my eyes. "I'm pretty sure we can work something around, right detective?"

Jameson shakes his head. "No Mr. Douglas, I don't think so. Just tell Mr. Jackson what happened, I'm sure he'll understand.'

I imagine stabbing him a thousand times in my mind while everyone in the meeting room continues talking.

I sit up. "Well, I guess you all don't need me anymore. I've been here for almost nine hours and this is the first time I've been able to speak a full sentence. Obviously you do not need me here any further, so if you'll excuse me I shall be leaving." I get up and smooth out my red pencil skirt and grab my bag.

"Hold on Miss De La Fuente." Jameson says, making me groan out loud.

"What is it now?"

"Come outside."

I follow Jameson outside the meeting doors, and walk around the corner.

"You are to report back here on January 2nd. You are not to leave Florida for any reason at all. That means your holidays will be spent here, as will your New Years. You are to stay in Miami, that means you're not allowed to leave the Miami-Dade county line. If you as so step foot somewhere that isn't in county lines you will arrested and tried. I will be calling for the next week and a half to check up on you. I'll have tabs on you and your mother, and I better not see that boy you're with around you when we get to Boston. Is that clear?" Jameson finishes, and I've never felt like such a child before.

"Yes."

"Alright. Now before I let you go, is there any other family members that we need to know about that you're in contact with?"

My father. "Nah."

Jameson nods. "Okay Miss De La Fuente. Have a nice day." He walks away and I look at my watch.

7:38 pm.

I roll my eyes and walk towards the waiting room. I open the door and everyone inside was asleep.

Both of the bodyguards were knocked out by the door, Michael was curled up in a chair, his sunglasses and curls covering his face. You wouldn't be able to tell he was asleep. My mom was laying on the long rectangular table, with Michaels fedora on her face, snoring so loud I'm sure the whole building could hear her.

I clear my throat loudly, hoping someone would wake up.

Nothing. Just my mom making noises.

I sigh and walk towards the table and put my bag down. I crack my fingers and start banging on the table.
