My gut feeling was telling me I was already in way too deep. Then again I was never clever enough to listen to my gut. Especially when my stomach was being louder.
"Sorry," I frowned as I took another sip of my water, my stomach sounding like a growling lion. "I have no control over that."
"Oh, no problem," Skye shrugged. "Been there, done that."
Skye and I both happened to have been stuck with each other at the moment.
Coulson had left without another word when I took the deal. He had also just left the file with my name on it.
Carefully, I took the file into my hands in hopes of not spilling it everywhere. I simply glared at it and wished it could disappear.
It was about an inch in width and had 'Odessa Treblefield: Asset' scribbled in small, sloppy handwriting.
I couldn't stand the fact that I was just totally played. Played by a strange man and his secret organization. Internally, I was beating myself up with a chair.
I closed my eyes as I hugged the file to my chest, inhaling and exhaling deeply. Maybe I should take yoga classes after this was over.
My gut feeling reminded me that I was in too far and that all of this (whatever this was) probably wasn't going to go away soon.
"Do you want me to get you something to eat?" Skye asked and I looked up hopefully.
"Can you? Could you." I asked, eye wide.
Skye laughed at my eagerness and nodded, "Of course, I'm sure they allow the prisoners- I mean, assets to have food."
I rolled my eyes at her jokes as she stood, smirking.
"Well then, I'll be right back with the food and hopefully you'll be released soon." She responded when she managed to compose herself.
"Thanks Skye," I smiled. "It's good to know I'm not the only one who's been through this."
"Yeah," Skye smirked as she turned towards the door. "You start to get used to all of this."
And just like that I was left alone with the file.
I was left sitting with the file for about twenty minutes until I actually decided to open it. Not that I really needed to, seeing as I already knew what was bound to be in it.
When I opened to the first page of the file, I saw multiple pictures of me, and surprisingly Green.
I titled my head as I took one photograph between my fingers. It was of the time Green and I first kissed, in the pouring mini-mall.
The image had clearly been taken from a security camera and was slightly fuzzy, but I could distinctively point out Green's converse. I also noticed the hoodie that I always wore, including right now.
I began thumbing through the rest of the photos and was surprised to find what each was about.
Some were rather recent, including the one of me walking out of a convenience store, glancing down at my phone. I had just received that text from Green at that moment.
Some of the photos were actually from my time in the orphanage, with Green and without him.
The times that were without Green were simply just yearly orphanage photos were everyone stood in rows to take a yearbook like photo.
The photos that did include Green were of him and me running around town by ourselves. Basically all Green-included photos were of him and me running around town, up until we were sixteen when we ran away from the orphanage.
