One time at a party, I realized my best friend was always right.

"AUDREY! I've been looking for you everywhere!" my best friend Brianna screamed, rushing over to me. Her toned arms gathered me in a bone-crushing hug and I squeezed her back.
"Yeah, well, this one isn't letting me leave his sight," I muttered, pointing with my thumb to my boyfriend who was right behind me.
"Audrey, you're already drunk. Do you know how many guys would take advantage right now if they were given the chance?!" Dylan retorted, his hold on my waist tightening.
"I'm not drunk," I scoffed in reply. Prying his hands from my waist, I added, "and even if I was, I'm not too stupid."
Brianna seemed to catch onto the small tension between us, and as always, came to the rescue. She latched onto my arm and smiled sweetly at Dylan.
"Dylan come on. You trust me. I'll just take her to the kitchen and we'll fill up on drinks," she said, holding up her red cup. "Mine's a sprite. Come on, you know me!"
Dylan flashed her a doubtful glance and sighed.
"Fine."
Bless Brianna and her responsible decision to always stay sober.
Just as I was walking away, Dylan grabbed me and pushed his lips against mine. I drew away from the quick kiss and smiled, looking into his dark brown eyes. They were sparkling with adoration and I couldn't help but think if I looked back at him like that.
"You're perfect," he whispered, before pushing me back towards Bri.
No, Dylan. You're perfect.
Too perfect for me.

"Hey, don't you guys make half a year soon?" Bri asked me as we were walking to the kitchen. The hallway was crowded and loud, but I could hear her well.
"Yup," I replied nonchalantly, pushing past a few guys and entering Bri's kitchen. It was so weird how Bri always threw the best parties, even though she didn't drink. Her brother, on the other hand, was a total party junkie. Actually, it was Keith (yes, whale Keith was my best friend's brother) who planned the parties while Bri kind of helped him out on the side and invited a majority of the people.
Needless to say, the twins worked together fantastically.
"Yep? That's it?" Bri prodded. She filled her cup to the rim with Pepsi, while I popped open a can of Bud Light. It was only the second of the night so I didn't know why Dylan was already on my back about me being drunk. I wasn't that much of a lightweight.
Sighing, I threw out the empty can into the nearby wastebasket.
"Yes, Brianna. That's it. What else do you expect me to say?!" Regret flushed over me for answering her in such a sharp tone, but at the same time, she knew how much I hated talking about Dylan.
