One time at a party, I realized something not-so-good and my boyfriend did too.

 -::-::-::-::-

The party heightened around 11. It was around that time that I finally succeeded in getting my boyfriend to dance with me.

Pulling him towards the crowd of bodies, I recognized Adam who was standing with a bunch of his friends.

"Let's go say hi!" Dylan had to shout over the loud song that was blaring through the speakers.

Nodding in response, I led him last the teens.

"Hey!" Adam called out, grinning at us good-naturedly. "You two done making out?" he teased. My cheeks warmed up again and I slapped him playfully.

"At least I'm getting some," Dylan replied with a mischievous wink. His comeback earned a few 'oooos' from the guys above.

"Puhhhhhhleeaase," Adam drawled in a valley girl accent. He snapped his wrist and even popped out his hip to make his act that much funnier. "I bet I could steal little Audrey from you anyday."

The boys and I laughed, knowing that Adam's comment was a light-hearted joke. Dylan knew it was too, but his grip on my hand tightened the tiniest bit.

Right before Dylan was going to say something in response, a familiar song came on.

And In my mind, in my head,

this is where we all came from.

The dreams we have, the love we share, this is what we're waiting for.

"Ohmygod, I LOVE this song," I cried happily, tugging Dylan towards the center.

He scowled and looked at his friends, pulling me back into his chest.

"Audrey, I can't believe you listen to this house crap," he muttered as I happily twirled under his hand.

"Hey! Axwell is a genius!" Adam interjected, taking a protective stance next to me.

I giggled lightly as the song started to build up for the drop.

"Come on! You promised you'd dance with me!" I reminded him, throwing in my best puppy dog face. With wide eyes and I pouted lip, I stared at him pleadingly.

"Fine," Dylan agreed after a three-second act of pretending that he wasn't going to give in.

Smiling, I entwined his hand with mine and brought him next to another couple that was eagerly awaiting the drop like me.

Alexa, the short blonde I was next to, cheered happily and grabbed my arm.

"This is soooo much fun!" she screamed over the shouts and whistles coming from all corners of Brianna's living room. It was obvious she had just as many drinks as me, plus three.

I shouted back an agreement to Alexa just as the song stopped before the huge drop came.

Yells and screams erupted from all around the room as the floor vibrated with every beat. Dylan grabbed my hips and I found my back pressed against him as we grinded to the song.

Our hips expertly swung to match the rhythm of the beat before he spun me so that our chests were pressed together. Smiling up at him, I gently rocked from side to side and interlocked my hands behind his head. Looking my boyfriend over, I strangely found myself comparing him to Adam.

His nose wasn't as nice as Adam's.

His eyes were darker then Adam's, and looked dull in comparison.

He wasn't as tall as Adam.

He wasn't as cute as Adam.

He. Wasn't. Adam.

But why did I have a problem with that?

The first day Dylan introduced me to his friends, I immediately took a liking to Adam. After all, his humor and friendliness was hard to dislike and I was always drawn towards people that made me feel like I was a part of the group.

But why was I looking at Adam differently now? Nothing had changed...

My gaze wandered over to where the curly-haired boy was. He saw me looking in his direction and smiled mischievously. And as much as I wish it didn't, my heart fluttered.

Yep. I liked Adam. Possibly more than I liked Dylan.

"Audrey?" Dylan said, the tone of his voice hinting that it wasn't the first time he was calling my name.

"Hmm?" I replied, looking back at him. I noticed his tired smile before he grabbed my face and really made me look at him.

"I said, want to know what I just realized?"

His smile was now a mere grin that softly stretched across his tan face. Angling my head, I nodded.

"What is it?"

He took a deep breath, as if he was thirsty for air. It reminded me of the last drink I had almost an hour ago.

"Audrey. I..."

My heart sank.

Holy shit, I panicked. Holy fucking shit.

My heart trashed wildly in my chest as I realized what was coming next.

"Audrey, I lo-"
