Chapter 3 Present

Ziva and Tony were sitting at their kitchen table eating breakfast on a Saturday morning. Tony was reading an NCIS document and Ziva was feeding Tali a breakfast of bananas and yogurt. "Am I taking the A man to karate today or are you?" Tony asked Ziva looking up from the document he was reading. "Can you take him? I promised Gibbs I would take Tali to see him today." Ziva told him. Ziva didn't usually like to take Aaron to karate. Aaron had first become interested in karate after he saw the movie The Karate Kid. At first Ziva was angry with Tony for showing him a movie with so much fighting no matter how many times he told her it was a "Cinema classic." She wanted her children to stay away from violence completely because she didn't want their childhood to be like hers. She was raised as an assassin after all. So she wasn't a big fan of her children even seeing or talking about violence much less learning how to fight. She didn't want their childhood to be anything like hers. Well, the bad parts of hers. The violent parts mainly. So because karate is not only teaching him how to fight but also making it so he sees violence and talks about it often. She was originally very against karate and would not allow Aaron to take it. But he was so into it, he always picked karate themed movies when it was his turn to pick on the family movie night they had most Friday nights and he would memorize all the lines of all the karate movies they watched and when they went to the store he would beg for anything remotely karate related and he was so insistent on it and so enthusiastic about anything having to do with karate that she finally gave in, realizing that it was something he wanted to do and not something he had to do to survive...as she did. So, after having a very long talk with him about how he was only supposed to use any moves he used in karate either in the karate dojo or in the special little area they had made in a room in their house to practice and he could only practice with permission from either his instructor or from her or Tony only then she would allow him to take karate and if he ever used anything he was taught to fight in any instance besides to practice then he would not be allowed to take karate anymore. Tony thought that she was being a little strict because "After all he was only six" But after Ziva told him that her father had already started to train her how to fight by the time she was six Tony let it go. She loved to see how much he loved it and she now knew way too many lines of The Karate Kid because Aaron watched that every chance he got and she usually would watch with him just to see his face light up while he told her all these different karate facts. His love of karate reminded her of her husband's love of movies. Although Aaron was equally as obsessed with movies as his father as well but most of his favorites were about karate whereas Tony's were varied.
