Whoot whoo!  That sound was the coach's whistle. He wanted to talk to his team about how they were going to play and who was playing when and where. In what position and when to run. The opening team, was said by him. He started his speech about how long he had thought about the team and why he had thought so long. After some time he let everybody know where to play. Since they were starting with pitching. He told everybody that Sophie was going to the pitcher. Not that it was a surprise to anyone because Sophie was their best pitcher on the team. They wanted to win the game. It was against their rival Burlington Royals. Sophie's team was the Billings Mustangs. They had been fighting for years. Royals always won, no matter what Mustangs did it. This time they were determined to do it different. They knew that the Royals had been to some of their games to check out how Mustangs played, but what they didn't know was that they weren't going to play like that now. They had a whole new plan how to play and this time, maybe Mustangs would come out as the winner of the game. The winner of this game would continue to the finals against Bluefield Blue Jays. They were a whole new team, but they did good to be new. It was good to see that there was still people who liked playing baseball.

The game was about to start. Everybody was in position and ready to start the game. They were also excited to start. They were up on their toes and ready to run or ready to hit the ball. Sophie was standing in the middle ready to throw the pitch. She felt good. It was fun to play. She forgot all of her problems for some time. This helped her through life. Baseball helped her being in contact with the earth. Whoot whoo! And the game began! Sophie threw the pitch and the one who was going to hit, got a strike. This went on until he was out. Sophie felt good about that. It was one of the best players. He was out for now. The next one was up, and Sophie did the same to him as she did to the first one. He went out, and another one came up. This time he hit the ball and got to second base. They had some good hits and got four points, but then it was the Mustangs turn to hit. They were lucky and had put their best hitters first and got five points before the next round. In the second round the Royals got five points while Mustangs got four. This meant it was all coming down to the last round. Royals were first. The end of their round they had a score of 13 points. The Mustangs fans were yelling and cheering their team on. They believed that this time was the time that the Mustangs beat the Royals. Sophie was the last hitter for the Mustangs. The score was 12-13 to the Royals. She had Theo and Dan put on second and third base. If she just hit a double they would win. The pitch came and Sophie hit it. IT WAS A HOME RUN! They just won the game 15-13 over the mighty Royals. When she came into the last base her whole team was there to celebrate. They won! They finally beat the Royals. After so many years. They finally did it. The whole team was jumping around, screaming and singing:

We are the champions, my friends,
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end.
We are the champions.
We are the champions.
No time for losers

'Cause we are the champions of the world

The fans joined in and sang the whole chorus over and over again. Sophie was lifted up by someone. She didn't know who, but when she was put down on the ground again, she turned around and there was Theo standing, smiling like an angel.

"You did it! You hit it so we beat the Royals. You are the perfect captain, Sophie," he said and kissed her cheek. Sophie started blushing and looked down on the ground. He kissed her on the cheek. Was this a dream? They beat the Royals and Theo kissed her on the cheek? She smiled again and looked up at Theo. He was still standing there smiling. He started hugging her tightly too. She hugged him back. He smelled like sweat, but also like his cologne. Sweet smell of Armani. This was the best day ever. Nothing could bring her down right now. And the day was going to get better. She had her brothers and sister night today. Maybe this was her lucky day.

I hope you like the story and the way I wrote this chapter. I wanted to leave a little cliff hanger about Sophie's relationship with Theo. You figure out what's going to happen. And why did he do that if he is with Amanda? Well stay tuned and you will find out!
