YAY! IT'S AN UPDATE! You lucky people! And I love the comments I'm getting on here! Would have updated sooner, but had a last minute babysitting job last night, which was when I was going to write it L and my muscles are killing me right now, I shouldn’t have spun that little girl around. After I did that, they were all asking me to spin them around over and over again; all 3 of them. So I woke up this morning feeling like I was dying.
Anyways, I want to dedicate this chapter to him ^^ because I noticed he became my fan this week, and I love his stories :D go check them out!
*Jake's POV*
Dammit, why the hell is Shaw taking so long? He should be at the pack house by now; should have been here two hours ago. It’s not that I'm worried about him or anything. But Evelyn, his mom, is going ballistic, and I think I'm about ready to give into the urge to knock her out, for my benefit as well as everyone else’s.
I know he's with Kyle; it’s the only explanation that makes sense. But I can't tell his mom that, it wouldn’t be fair to him. She’d know something was going on. She can read almost anyone, and easily gets information from them. It was pretty creepy, actually.
My thoughts are interrupted by another one of her rants to her mate. "What if he's stuck out in the storm? You don’t know that he's okay Jack. He could have driven into a ditch for all we know, and we—"
I can't hear her voice anymore as I walk out into the house's entryway, closing the door to the living room behind me. God, I don’t think I would have been able to take another minute of that. Going to one of the small windows next to the front doors, I look out to see that the rain has slowed, and the storm looks as if it's coming to an end.
Just before I turn to walk away, a flash of light catches my attention, and I turn back to see what it is. Headlights. I let out a sigh of relief when the car parks in front of the pack house, out of view of the living room, and I recognize it as Shaw's mustang. Finally, now we can all save our sanity before Evelyn chases it away.
I lean against the wall opposite the front door, next to the staircase, and wait for him to walk in. When he does, the clothes he's wearing—which I noticed are not his—are wet, but not completely soaked through. He closes the door quietly, not letting the sound carry to our parent's ears, and looks at me, seemingly waiting for me to say something first. Which I do.
In a loud whisper, I shout at him "what the hell took you so long?! Your mom has been driving everyone crazy here, coz she can't stop worrying about you! Shit, I was almost going to go and drag you here, for the sake of everyone's sanity." When I'm done he stands staring at me like I'm stupid. "What?"
"Do you really think I'm gonna drive in rain like that? I'm not an idiot you know." Realization kicks my sweet behind as I listen to him. Yeah, he's not stupid enough to do that; even though I would have done that. Wait a minute… I just indirectly called myself stupid. Great.
He walks past me and into the living room. As soon as he opens the door I hear a shout of "Shaw!" that makes my ears ring, and when I walk in after him just in time to see his mom, who was previously clinging to him, pull back and punch him in the chest. "Where the hell were you young man?! I've been worried sick!"
He grabs her wrist in a firm but gentle hold as she goes to hit him again, probably worried that she'd aim higher up this time in her slightly hysterical state. "Relax, mom. I dropped Jake's friend off home, but the storm started while I was still there. I didn’t want to drive home in that."
After he says this, his mom hugs him again, saying what sounded like "thank god" under her breath.
I look around the room and see my dad open mouthed and staring at me. "What?" I ask in confusion. His stare was making me uncomfortable.
