First I just wanted to say sorry to anyone who read the last chapter before I edited it a bit in the middle. For those who did, don’t worry about it I only changed the names up a bit, because when I was half-asleep—or what I like to refer to as zombie mode—I couldn’t concentrate for more than five seconds, so it messed it up.

And I'm sorry I didn’t update sooner, but I do have a reason. That being: I live in England. We had a really hot day on Tuesday (32'c/89'f) which is very rare where I live, since it's normally cloudy, and rains a lot. So I led out in the garden all day, and couldn’t write outside because the sun was too bright and I couldn’t see the screen on my laptop, trust me though I did try. And then yesterday I got the Sims game I ordered for my laptop, and played on that most of the day then spending the rest writing this, which I finished this morning.

I dedicated this chapter to her ^^ because she was one of two people who commented on the last chapter, and without those two the chapter wouldn’t have been edited :D

*Shaw's POV*

You know the feeling when you know you'll be right about something, but you really wish you weren’t? Well, this is one of those situations.

I knew I'd be right about having to hold my wolf back, and half of the time I was with Kyle I had to prevent my wolf from taking over my human form and launching across the table at him, biting him and marking him as ours.

I was lucky that I can hide that. I'm sure if I didn’t keep the strain off my face I'd probably look like I was constipated. So instead I pushed that expression back and just let any other emotions show, which wasn’t hard considering most of the time it consisted of awe or a huge grin.

Right now we were headed to fourth, which happened to be biology where we would apparently be doing a lab today. Which meant I'd get Kyle all to myself, or as close as I could get to that in a class full of teenagers.

Almost as soon as we walked into the room Jake said a quick "bye" before reluctantly sitting down at one the two-person lab tables that was in the front row, right next to the door we just walked through. Instantly the girl who was sat next to him tried to flirt with him, but you could see he wasn’t interested as he just stared at the front of the room. I could see why. She had her face caked in make-up, and only dressed slightly better than a two dollar hooker you'd find on a street corner.

I could hear Kyle snickering as we walked to the opposite corner of the classroom, right at the back. "What's so funny?" I ask as we sit down, him pulling out a lab sheet from his bag.

Looking at me with traces of humour in his eyes, he says "it's been the same thing every lab since the start of our junior year. She doesn’t get that Jake's not interested. About a week into classes last year she came to the conclusion he was, uhm, slow, so she started talking to him like he was 'special'." He laughs at this before saying "he looked like he was about to slap her, and he shouted at her that he didn’t talk to her because he didn’t like her, and wasn’t interested. Ever since then she started dressing even sluttier than before to try to get him to notice her, and still tries to talk to him because she's convinced that he'd like her if he got to know her." I can't help but to join in his laughter at this, and we both look to where Jake is sat looking at us with a 'SAVE ME' look on his face, which just makes us laugh harder.

We got to class five minutes early since our last class was only in the next corridor, so the teacher—who apparently always comes in a couple of seconds before the late bell rings—is only coming in now. I look at him and realise that he's actually an Elder of the pack; I've talked to him in pack meetings a couple of times before I left for Alpha training. He sends me a nod, which to others would just look like he was acknowledging the new student, but to anyone within the pack it was obvious it was him showing respect to the future Alpha. I return it, since Elders are highly respected amongst werewolves. They're wise beyond their years, and can actually read another person's emotions even if they're not mates, so they can help to keep the wolves in the pack they're with at their strongest mentally.
