Chapter 2

I sit on the bench in the middle of Bigelow Park, waiting for what will probably be the worst night of my life.

"Gabriella, is that you?" I hear that familiar annoying voice come from behind me.

"Uh yeah..." I say standing up.

I turn around to see Marcel, with the hugest grin plastered over his face.

"You look beautiful," Marcel compliments me smoothly.

I don't know why, but I find myself blushing. "Oh thank you Marcel. So what were you planning on us doing tonight?"

He shakes his head and grabs my hand, pulling me away from the park, "Oh it's a surprise. But don't worry love. You'll have fun."

As if.

My mind is telling me to pull my hand away from his, while my heart won't let me.

Wait what am I saying? My heart doesn't care about Marcel!

"Do you like carnivals?"

I no my head and smile, "I love them."

He chuckles, sending butterflies to my stomach.

No. There aren't any butterflies Gabby. You're just tired.

"Well then you will definitely love this date!"

I almost gag at the word "date".

After a few minutes of walking in peaceful silence, we end up at the gate to the carnival. "Oh Marcel, I had no idea there was a carnival in town."

"Neither did I. But on the way to the park I saw it, and it seemed perfect. I already got us a pass to ride whatever we want" he smiles hopefully.

"How sweet of you" I find myself saying, not even sarcastically.

"What would you like to do first my love?" Every time he calls me "love" my heart flutters.

"Are there any roller coasters?"

He nods eagerly, "There are, m'lady."

I follow him to the only roller coaster in the park, noticing the very, very long line. "Oh we don't have to ride this. I don't want to spend the night in line" I say as nicely as I can.

"But darling, we go in through the back."

"What?"

He just laughs at me, "With these passes I have, they let you in through the back and you don't have to wait in any lines."

"How expensive were these passes?!" I basically shout at him.

"Calm down, Gabriella. I just worked my charm and got them for free," he says calmly.

He worked his charm? What charm? The girl must have been both blind and deaf.

"Oh uh okay" I respond as nicely as I can.

He holds his hand out for me to grab again, and I do. I feel like every time we touch, electricity just flies through my body. It doesn't make any sense.

As we are walking behind the roller coaster, Marcel trips over a bush, and I go down with him. I sit up and brush my dress off. When I look up, I find myself gazing into Marcel's eyes. His glasses are missing and I notice they're a deep green. A beautiful green.

We just sat there for a few moments before he snaps out of our embrace and says in a raspy, deep voice, "Do you know where my glasses are?"

"Your- your what?" I stutter, mesmerized by his beautiful eyes and his luring voice.

"My glasses," he says, back in his annoying voice.

I must have imagine the voice.

Looking away from him, I search the ground and find his glasses, "Here you go Marcel."

He slides them on the bridge of his nose and stands up, before holding his hand out to help me up. "I really am sorry, Gabriella. I didn't see the bush there."

"It's okay. And call me Gabby" why did I say that? Only my friends and family call me Gabby.

"Okay Gabby. Call me Harry," he says, in that deep raspy voice again.

What? "Harry?"

"What?" He responds, back in his annoying voice.

"You told me to call you Harry?"

He shakes his head, "No I didn't."

Well shit, I must be going crazy.
