Kidnapped: Prologue
Wiping the tears from my eyes I looked up at Landon.
“Why do you have to move right before the start of freshman year?”
Landon sighed, grabbed me in a big bear hug, and started rubbing my back.
Whispering in my ear, “California is a more promising place for my dad’s law firm, Gem.”
I mumbled no over and over again and let go from the hug. Landon only being a few inches taller than me looked me right in the eyes.
“Gemini Laker stop crying this instant. I know you’re stronger than this, maybe me moving away will give you a chance to be more outgoing, and teach you how to have fun without me.” Landon suggested, using my full name to get my attention.
I wiped my nose with my sleeve, tidied my hair, and plastered a smile on my face.
“I guess you have a point.” This could be a possible opportunity to come out of my shell and learn to live life to the fullest without having Landon there to make me do things. “But you have to email and call every day. Promise?”
“Promise.” With that said we locked pinkies.
Who knew he would break his promise.
