I watched the tears form in Terrance’s eyes. I felt my heart break into two pieces. I felt a tear of my own go down my cheek. I quickly wiped it away. I hopped off my bed and pretended to be a happy little camper. I looked out my window, and down at the pool. James was swimming. I watched as he raced through the pool.
“We can still be friends of course.” I told him without looking at him. A few more tears came down my face but I wiped them away with my jacket sleeve. It literally broke my heart. But I need to make things right to please my mom and dad. I didn’t want any flaws in this stupid marriage they arranged.
“Why?” He stuttered through his tears. I could feel him coming closer to me. His head was on my shoulder. “You said you would let this work till further notice about the marriage.” He said into my shoulder.
I shrugged him off. “I want to do something right in my life. I want to make my dad happy before something bad happens to him.”
“Cant you do something else to make him happy?” He asked.
I shook my head, “This is different.” I looked at James. He saw me in the window and flipped me off then continued with his swim.
“How?” He asked again.
I was getting annoyed. I sighed, “You know what Terrance. Maybe you should stop asking questions about why I cant be with you and why you cant be with someone else.” I didn’t know what to do after that, but I wanted it to be something dramatic. I quickly walked over to that door and stormed out the room, slamming the door behind me.
That was defiantly harder than I thought. I walked into the arcade room and slid down the wall and sat on the floor. I tried not to cry. Suck it up Ever, its just a boy. There’s plenty other fish in the sea.
Better said than done.
I heard footsteps behind me. I didn’t dare turn around to look. “So harsh Ever,” I heard Meghan say from behind me.
I still didn’t turn around. “Just trying to make everything right. Make it perfect.”
*~*~*~*~*
“I’ve got a monster in my pants and it never gets a chance…” I heard my phone sing on the counter in the bathroom. I stopped what I was doing for a second and picked up my phone.
“Amber?” I asked into the receiver.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
“I’m busy,” I told her.
“I know your fucking busy. You better be doing something important.”
“I’m dying my hair.” I said and put the phone on speaker.
“You’d rather dye your hair then pick your friend up from the airport? Now I have to get a damn taxi. I could have helped you dye your hair, but no you insist on doing everything your self. Am I on speaker?”
I rolled my eyes and laughed. Amber talks to much and she hates being on speaker. I was dying my hair for a change. I couldn’t decide black or blonde, I wouldn’t want to be described as a bimbo by anyone so I chose black.
“Well I told Rob to bring you here. He should be there with a sign. Yes, you are indeed on speaker.” I said and put some more chemical on my hair.
“I don’t know who the fuck Rob is. I’d rather you let Kim or James pick me up. Maybe even Terrance or Gavin. Even though I hate Gavin, but that’s not the point. The point is I don’t want some stranger picking me up from the airport. He could be a rapist or a murderer for all I know. Or even worse, he could be both! Another thing, what color are you dying your hair. It better not be some stupid color like blue. How I hate that color. And why am I on speaker?” God, Amber talks a lot.
