Monday, everybody hates a Monday. No more lie ins, no more late nights, just back to school, or work; or both if your unlucky. I slug out of bed, making it barely to the shower. I slug then from the shower, down the stairs, avoiding the door to the room that either Hunter or Chase will occupy; I hope Chase will come back today, but doubt it; and I don’t really fancy running into Hunter this early in the morning!

Bag slung over my shoulder I begin the quick walk to Ryker’s; I wonder how he is doing after the party the other night. I meet him with a face like thunder, I asked how he is, and every other question under the sun; but he continued to ignore me. James, who lives three streets down from him joined us, Rkyer still giving me the hard shoulder powered off, leaving me to walk to school; alone. What had I done?

“Need a lift?” a familiar voice called, Evan; grinning I nodded, the car someone was driving him to school in pulled over; I hopped into the back. “This is Ed, our chauffeur” Evan explained. I nodded. Chauffeur; cool. We chattered easily in the car on the quick remaining five minute drive to school; we passed a sour faced Ryker; “What’s up with him?” Evan demanded, giving him the evils as we passed. I shrugged; no idea.

The driver parked, Evan and I slipping from the car; already there were the whispers and stares; people had heard about the party obviously. Evan grinned at me, “There’s your jealous boyfriend!” Evan teased, waving at a very pissed off Ryker; Ryker flipped him the finger in reply. Evan just laughed, “He’s not my boyfriend, we’re just friends” I insisted. Evan rolled his eyes, throwing his arm possessively around my shoulders as we walked into school.

I didn’t manage to catch Evan until break time, but a lot had happened in the first two periods. In first, which happened to be RE, a subject I wished school would let us drop, Amya told me the latest gossip about Brooklynn, “So basically, I heard this off Bailey, you know the tall, thin girl with black hair, in the year above us; you know, she was dating…”

“Amya, I don’t care who Bailey is, or who she was dating; tell me the gossip about Brooklynn!” I demanded, Amya giggled, I sounded like a total bitch! But Brooklynn deserved it for all the crap she gave everyone all the time!

“So” Amya continued, gleeful about being in the know, “She was drunk, really, really drunk. Xander went off the toilet; she was dancing with one of her brothers mates; he came back and Brooklynn was making out with this guy. Poor Xander! Not just making out but his hands were under her shirt; and she was moaning really loudly; loving every single moment of it!”

“Poor Xander!” I cried, everyone turned our way, including the teacher; who was currently giving the two of us evils. Amya blushed, Clark; captain of the football team, this year’s heart throb, was staring directly at Amya. Amya had a crush on Clark since we had started secondary school, he had never once looked her way in return. Now he was full on staring at her, not like the other class who were staring because the two nerds were being scalded; this was different; this was more.

Second period came round, Xander was in my Biology class; it was awkward, he was still fuming; I had no idea what to say. What would you say to your best friend in a situation like this? Exactly.

Break came as a welcome relief from Xander’s sulking, only to find Ryker was also still sulking; the reason still unknown to me. How I had offended him was unknown to me. I was clueless. Xander was still sulky because of Brooklynn cheating on him, she now sat; not twenty metres away, on the lap of a guy, two years above us - the one she had been making out with at the party. Xander was fuming!

Amya was still fretting about the look Clark had given her in first period; I was the only one in a good mood – wasn’t it an amazing bonus that Brooklynn wasn’t hanging around with us anymore?
