Eight.

Chapter Eight:

"The New Cadets of the Recon Corps."

You stood beside Hanji, one hand on your hip as you watched the new Cadets that had joined the Recon Corps. Erwin had just finished his speech and called the "Superiors" over to meet the new Cadets. Levi's Squad stayed in HQ, while you somehow got mixed in with Hanji, Mike, and --of course-- Levi.

The new Cadets were:

Mikasa Ackerman.

Armin Arlert.

Jean Kirstein

Sasha Blouse.

Connie Springer.

Bertoldt Hoover.

Reiner Braun.

Krista Lenz.

And Ymir.

Erwin was in front of the new Cadets, watching them. You glanced at Levi and saw he looked rather bored with the whole thing and when you heard a soft giggle, you looked back in front of you, elbowing Hanji in the ribs.

She rubbed the spot where it hurt, "What was that for?"

You sent her a glare, "Don't giggle, this is serious."

She rolled her eyes, "Right, says the girl who was looking at Shorty."

You ignored her and that seemed amusing to Hanji so she continued snickering, making sure Erwin --or anybody else for that matter-- could hear.

"So these are your superiors, I expect you to follow the orders that they give you. On the far left is Corporal Levi," Erwin said, "and on his right is Mike. Next to him is Hanji."

Hanji smiled and waved to everybody, accidentally --or purposely, you never know what goes on in her mind-- smacking your face with the back of her hand when she was done. You shot her a glare and she responded with an innocent smile.

"And the one on the far right is (F/N)," Erwin concluded.

You nodded at the Cadets and afterwards, Erwin dismissed them saying that their training would begin the very next day. You were given the task to escort the Cadets to HQ, you quietly walked to HQ, making sure the Cadets still followed you.

When you and the new Cadets arrived at HQ, you told them to make themselves feel right at home and to explore a bit so they wouldn't get lost in the future. When they all scattered, you went to the stables to see your horse.

After a few minutes of petting him/her, you mounted him/her and began walking. You didn't really have a planned destination, you just wanted to go somewhere where you could think without some new Cadet ramming into you from behind.

After you found out that you had been wandering around aimlessly for two hours, you quickly ran back to HQ, hoping Levi hadn't noticed the fact you had disappeared and that he would hopefully NOT make you run laps. When you reached HQ, you quickly put your horse back in his/her stable and ran into the old castle.

Thankfully, Levi was distracted. He was either yelling orders to new Cadets or making them not touch something or simply telling them to shut the fuck up. It was pretty funny to see him angry.

Unfortunately, Levi HAD noticed your absence...

...yeah.

He glared at you the moment you walked near him, "And where the fuck have you been, (L/N)?"

You smiled sheepishly and faced him, "...i've been to some places?"

"Clean up the dining hall with the new Cadets. That place is a fucking mess."

You mentally glared at him, but outwardly, you remained calm, "Of course, Sir."

He shot you a look, "I'm putting you in charge of those Cadets, if they fuck up one more thing inside this place, I will take it out on you. The new Cadets are fucking idiots and don't know shit, while I know for a fact you are not an idiot, most of the damn time anyway, and you DO know shit. So do not make them fuck up, understand?"

You nodded, "Yes, Sir."

After Levi left, you walked away in defeat to the dining hall. When you arrived, most of the new Cadets had been cleaning the place. You mentally rolled your eyes at how typical Levi was acting. The moment you walked in, the Cadets all faced you.

"What?" you questioned, now letting your annoyance show.

One of them, Connie, said, "Are you here to give us more orders?"

You smiled and shook your head, "Oh, no. I'm in the same predicament as you guys. The Corporal made me clean AND put me in charge of you."

Jean raised his eyebrow, "What are the Corporal's standards exactly? We've had to redo this place four times."

You looked around and noticed that even to you, the place was a complete mess. Now the reason Levi was throwing a fit now made sense. These Cadets didn't know the first thing about cleaning...at least cleaning to Levi's standards.

"...this may take a while."

About thirty minutes or so after the sun had completely disappeared, Levi barged into the room, looking particularly annoyed at you. He glared at each one you of and when his gaze fell on you, he looked like he wanted you dead.

"Are you shitheads done or not? It's been five hours," he growled.

You walked up to him, "We were just about to get you, actually. So, are we going to do this thing all over again or are we good?"

The Corporal did a double take on the whole place before walking around, inspecting everything. When he was done, he walked back up to you and he had a much softer expression on his face...he almost looked, pleased.

...he actually looked like he wanted everything to die, but he looked pleased...

In his own way.

"Go back to your rooms, you all smell like shit from all that cleaning," he ordered.

You sighed in relief and --for no reason-- patted his shoulder which made him send a glare towards you as you casually walked out of the dining hall and into your room. The other Cadets probably did the same thing as you.

You walked into your room and after changing, you walked into the now clean dining hall and sat with Levi, Hanji, and Levi's entire squad. Eren sat with his friends and you were okay with that, you weren't so sure if Levi was okay with that though.

"What do you think of the new Cadets?" Hanji chirped.

Levi set his cup on the table, "They're all shitheads who do nothing but fuck up everything."

You sipped on your tea before setting it down, making a mental note to let it cool off for a bit because it has hot and it had burnt your tongue.

"Oh, I don't know...

...the new Cadets seem like a pretty interesting bunch."
