Twelve.

Chapter Twelve:

"Befriending a Corporal."

After eating breakfast at the mess hall, all the Cadets and the superiors headed out for hand-to-hand combat. After sparring with a few of the new Cadets and with some of the members of Levi's squad, you decided to take a short break. You found a nice spot to sit on and after a few minutes, your eyelids felt heavy and you couldn't help but fall asleep.

"(F-F/N)?" a shaky voice asked.

You opened your eyes, seeing Levi's steely blue ones. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion as you attempted to sit up, but found yourself held down by something. It felt like you were being tied down by rope and it felt constricting and suffocating. You were caged in by black, save for a small opening which revealed Levi's usual blank face; but there was a hidden sadness in his steely blue eyes.

Something else that caught your attention, it was the fact that Levi wasn't wearing his uniform; he was wearing casual clothing. There was a black blazer loosely wrapped around his form and a white, long-sleeved shirt alonmg with casual black pants.

"L-Levi?" you whispered.

His lip quivered as tears threatened to spill from his beautiful steel blue eyes. "Why did you leave me? Why?"

By now, you were even more confused than ever; you tried many times to call out to Levi, but each time he just stared at you blankly. Erwin (who you only noticed at that very second) then placed a hand on Levi's shoulder and nodded at him, Levi's face fell before he gestured for a man to come over.

"Is it time?" the man asked.

"Yes," Levi whispered sadly, "burn her body."

Your eyes widened to the point it hurt, you shouted Levi's name over and over again, but he failed to hear you even though you were screaming at the top of your lungs. Levi looked at you sadly one last time before a lonely tear slid down his cheek and he turned away.

"Goodbye, (F/N)."

"No! Levi! Wait! I LOVE YOU!"

Your eyes widened, you bolted upright at the strange, new nightmare you had just experienced. In an attempt to relax yourself, you looked around, only to find the Cadets still sparring with each other, after finally calming your incredibly fast heart, you stood up and walked to the HQ.

"Where are you going, (L/N)?" Levi yelled, making you flinch and freeze.

"I-I'm just going back to the HQ to rest," you responded, turning around to face him.

He clicked his tongue, "You haven't done anything but sleep on the damn dirt and you claim to need even more rest? I don't think I follow your logic."

Ah. So he saw me sleeping.

"I don't really feel all that well," you whispered, making sure only Levi was able to hear you, "you may whoop my ass into shape tomorrow, okay?"

Even though you were half-expecting him to go 'Hell no, get back to work you little shit,' and half-expecting to be considerate for once in his life and say yes, you were still surprised that he let you off the hook (probably since you were so used to him never letting you do anything).

You smiled in appreciation and Levi nodded slightly before he took his leave, walking towards Jean, who was resting his ass on the ground. The moment horse-ass saw Levi heading towards him, he got up and scrambled towards the nearest person, who happened to be Eren.
