"California?" Chrisy yells through the screen.
"You're kidding, right?" Emily asks.
"Do I look kidding?" I whimper.
"How much longer are you going to live here?" Emily asks.
"I don't know, but I won't be finishing junior year here, so within the next few months." I answer.
I get a notification that Lex is trying to join the call. I accept her into the conversation.
"Hey babe what's up?" She asks. She then looks worried as soon as she sees my tear stained face.
"I'm..." I burst into more tears before I can finish my sentence.
"She's moving to California." Chrisy answers solemnly.
"Holland. Tell me she's kidding." Lex says in a panicked tone.
I shake my head no.
"Holl, we'll be there for you every step of the way." Emily starts.
"No matter how hard it gets." Chrisy finishes.
"Thanks guys. I love you." I say just as I hear a knock on my door.
"Guys I got to go. One of my parents are coming in. I'm probably about to get a fun lecture on why we have to move." I say with a sarcastic smile.
There's another knock at the door as I hang up the call.
I close my lap top and lay on my back.
There's one more knock, then my mom walks in.
"Hun, can we talk?" She asks.
"No." I answer.
"Holland." She says sternly.
"Mom I don't want to move. I don't want to leave. Please don't make me." I beg.
"There's not much I can do about it."
"I know," I answer, "I just wish this wasn't happening."
"Our move date is November 18th." My mom says.
"The 18th? That's in two weeks. Are you serious?" I ask.
"They need your father there urgently." She answers.
"I won't even be able to spend Christmas with my friends?" I feel a tear stream down my face.
"Holl, I know this is hard, but it's hard for all of us. We just have to work together." She says in her calm tone, which is all but calming at the moment.
"Can you go?" I ask.
"Hmm?" She asks.
"Can I be alone for a little." I say.
"Yeah. You might wanna start picking what you want and don't want anymore." She says as she leaves the room.
