We walked into his decent sized house, and silently walked into his room. Lucas had been silently quiet crying the whole way over here, it was scary really. His mom was at work and couldn't make it hope, and his older brother, Victor was at college.
Once we were all settled in Penelope and I enveloped Lucas in another loving hug. Once we pulled away, I looked at Lucas. He looked a wreck. His eyes were red and puffy, so were his cheeks. His hair looked like he set fire to it, and his blue shirt was covered in tears.
"Why are you crying so much, Lukey?" I asked worried, I used his old nickname in hopes to cheer him up. It didn't work.
"Yeah, what the hell is wrong? Did you get someone pregnant?" asked Penelope in panic. We both giggled at bit before Lucas finally spoke.
"No," he said, his voice was hoarse, "I have been struggling with my life lately. Haven't you noticed that I've never even had a girlfriend before?" he asked. We both nodded allowing him to continue. What was he trying to say?
"Guys, I don't know if I like girls in that way." he said almost under a whisper. I barely heard him. Penelope and I looked at each other as if asking 'what does he mean?'. Then it all clicked. By 'life' he meant his sexuality.
"Are you saying that you're gay, Lucas?" I asked. I did not care at all about his sexually at all. He's my best friend, and I love him no matter what. I'm quite sure Penelope feels the same way. She has a gay uncle.
"I don't know!" He responded, frustrated. He ran his hand through his hair, making it messier than it was.
"You know we will love you no matter what, right?" Penelope said, rubbing his back in attempt to comfort him. He looked at her and then back at me on the other side of him.
"Yeah." he said, smiling slightly. I know he won't change if he is gay. The only thing that will change is that he'll be more happy, and if he's happy then I am too.
"Nothing will change besides the fact that you'll be more happy with yourself if you be honest to yourself." I said to him. He needed to know this.
"Well then. I guess that I have been miserable for the past three years." he said more to himself than us. Three years!?
"You've been struggling with this for three years and you haven't told us, Lucas?!" I said to him with wide eyes.
"It's a very personal thing, Kiara." he said seriously. I nodded and looked over to Penelope and asked, "Why so quiet?"
She looked shocked, did him being gay bother her? She looked up, smiling and said, "Wow, I never thought I would have a gay best friend." we both laughed at her.
"I love you guys." Lucas said before hugging us both, we hugged him back with large smiles, "we love you too." I said.
"You wanna tell your parents yet?" Penelope asked moving from the bed to the floor. She loves being on the floor. Ever since kindergarten she always sat on the floor of our houses. She once insisted on sitting on the floor at lunch instead of the tables.
"No, not yet. I'll wait for the right time." he said, looking sad again.
The rest of the day, we spoke. I'm glad that Lucas was so comfortable around us, telling us that he is gay and all. But it's 2016, so I'm not really shocked. We spoke about everything. Even spoke memories about each other when we were younger. For hours we just sat there in his room. I love doing this with my friends. My only friends.

"Bye, see you tomorrow!" I shouted leaving Lucas and Penelope alone at his house. It was 5 p.m, and my mom would come home in an hour. Good thing Lucas lived ten minutes away from me.
