Lilith's POV

Sunlight shined red on my closed eyelids, awakening me from sleep.I yawned and sat up.Last night's events flow over me like cold water. Two intriguing mutants interfered with our battle , and helped us  home I smiled at the memory. "Leonardo and Donatello," I spoke soggily After getting dressed I went to Shelby's room. She was still sprawled out and tangled up in the blankets. " Attractive," I said loudly and sarcastically, and leaned against the door. She yelped and fell off her bed. " What the Hell was that for?!," She boomed from the floor( Heh Mae likes to rhyme)

I looked up and laughed, holding my stomach " Well , It's already 10:00 and we need to buy food,"           "So! You don't have to wake me up that way "oh don't be so immature! It's my turn to go shopping so you take patrol," She sighed and fell back on the ground "Alright, just toast me some pop tarts while I get dressed, please," Seriously! you have those every morning," I rolled my eyes and scoffed." "Why don't you try something healthier?" "Great, now you're criticizing my food choices," She said into her pillow." You're not my mom, I'll do whatever the hell I want," My breathe hitched, and my eyes ' widened. I looked down, sadly." I'm going now, you'll have to make your own breakfast," and with that I left the roof

I grabbed my bag and jumped down from the tree, thinking the way she said it. I replayed the words over and over again. She knows how sensitive I am to that kind of phrases, so why would she use them so easily. I shrugged it off desperately  and continued to walk down the side walk of New York City

Shelby's POV

I grinned at the wind in my hair. I skinned the rooftops like I was flying. my favorite days of the week were when I could go out on my own. I was free to observe whatever I want without anyone telling me what to watch for. Yes, I loved Lilith's company, and never want to go back to being alone, but its still nice to fell independent. I started to slow down and rest. I huffed air in and out of my tired lungs, smiling . As I did I looked out over my city from the tallest building there is. The people are like ants. Small and to busy to enjoy life like myself, but I did have to pay hell to get this far. When my mother passed away,  my father saw no excuse to hold back and left a new scar or bruise daily.  That's why I'm so exposed. I welcomed the cold air and looks like I get to these scars they remind me of why I  stayed with my sister, as close as Lilith is anyway. I chuckled and closed my eyes. It's funny, since were not even related by blood we just started referring to each other that way. My eyes open into a cold stare on the city. Family goes deeper than what's pulsing in your veins for us its blood for them its mutagen. Their forms obtained from the substance binds them together. They are a family, and I have respect for that. The wind gusts at me whipping my hair to-and-fro. Its cold, and I welcome it on the memories.   .    .    .
