"One thing you all must understand about Nora, she was a dreamer. But she taught me many things. She taught Tom also, not enough, but she did."

----------Tom's POV--------

"Wake up sleeping beauty, we have officially arrived!" I shook my sleepy companion awake. Nora woke with a stretch followed by yarn. When her eyes met mine, a small smile graced her face.

"Did you just call me 'Sleeping Beauty'?" She giggled.

"Yes I did. What were you dreaming about my Sleeping Beauty?" I smiled down at her.

"Anything and everything. You know, dreams are a funny thing."

"How so?" I questioned as I grabbed our bags.

"In dreams we enter a world that is entirely our own." I wanted to be apart of the world she dreamed up, but I'd never let her know that. There are some things better kept to ourselves.

"Dreams are dangerous things." I simple replied, all humor gone.

"Sure, they can be dangerous if you let them control you, but life's no fun without risks Tom." Nora said grabbing her luggage from me and headed out of the compartment, off the train. She didn't look back, but she knew I would follow.

-------Present tense-----

Harry's interest had peaked. Voldemort was so innocent and it was weird how he lived for Nora. How come no one ever tells the story of Nora Lionel? She seemed just as important to Wizard History as Harry himself? Why had Dumbledor just now decided to talk about this blue eyed girl? It confused Harry.

Harry felt a nudge on his side, he turned to see his ginger friend glancing his head at the front of the dinning hall and back to Harry. He got Ron's message and turned his attention back to the wise old man.

"I didn't quite understand how Nora seemed to have Tom wrapped around her finger without even trying, let alone even knowing the effect she had on him. But it wasn't unrequited."

------Nora's POV-----

Tom followed behind like I knew he would. Tom Marvolo Riddle. He is a weird one, but he's my weird one. I know he didn't mean to upset me, but he did. I like him better when he smiles and shuts up.

Tom didn't say anything, but I felt his familiar presence behind me the whole walk to the 1st year boats. We got into the same boat without muttering a word. I wasn't mad at him, just upset that he couldn't see how wonderful dreams are.

Once the castle came into view, my jaw dropped and I sound of wonder escaped my lips. "Beautiful and grand isn't it?" Tom whispered in my ear.

"Yeah." I breathed out.

"You want to know the best part?" Tom asked with his signature smirk.

"What?"

"It's no where close to Wools." I smiled, but it was partly sad. A little piece of me was hoping he would say that the best part was sharing it with me. I know Tom and I are just friends but a girl can dream right?

A professor lead us into the building and outside of what I assume is great hall. This man went on to tell us about the sorting hat and the different house. I began to get nervous, what if Tom and I aren't in the same house? Worriedly, I glanced at Tom to my right. He gave me a slight smile and grabbed my hand. I squeezed it gently for reassurance and he brought it to his lips and placed a soft kiss on it.

"Nora, don't forget, you're stuck with me whether you like it or not." This caused a smile to grow on my face.

"I wouldn't have it any other way." I smiled.

The professor came back and told us it was time. The huge French doors opened and the sea of students turned to stare at us. Once we reached the front of the room, Professor Dipet, the Headmaster, gave a speech about welcoming us all, and hoping for a great school year while staying save and following the rules. Then the sorting began and the nerves where now on high.

What if they make fun of you? Where's Tom? What house will I be in? What house is Tom going to be in? What if I fail my classes? Where's Tom? What if I get lost? What if Tom and I are separated? Where is Tom?!

"Nora Lionel." it was my turn. Tom squeezed my hand one last time before pushing me slightly towards the stag. I mounted to the stairs to what could be the most important moment of my life. The professor placed a worn leather hat on my head and it started to talk!

"mmmmmm.......Smart, very smart. You would do well in Ravenclaw. But you're cunning and are up to lots of mischief. Don't you know it's not nice to steal things from people?"

"yeah sorry, but they were hurting Tom."

"Tom? Hmmm, you're very loyal aren't you? Very brave too. Kind of creative. But most prominently, you don't give up. You're a dreamer. What to do with you." I was holding my breath waiting for the hat to decide my fate. "Gryffindor!" It finally shouted and the students at a table decorated in Gold and Red burst into cheers. I smiled and skipped happily over, where I received hugs and pats on the back. I took an open seat next to a girl I recognized from the boats. I think her name was Josie Fairchild, but I could be wrong.

"Tom Riddle." I hoped he would be in Gryffindor with all of my being. I don't know if I could last without Riddle.

As he walked up the stage, his eyes found mine in the crowd, he smiled and winked at me. And I knew that no matter what house he was in, it wouldn't matter because we would always be best friends.

The hat wasn't even put fully on his head before it shouted out, "Slytherin!" The green and silver table across the hall started whooping and hollering. He sat next to a boy with bleach blonde hair who looked kind of self centered, but I'm not one to judge. Tom once again sought my eyes out of the mass of students. I smiled shyly and waved. He waved back and winked again. Gosh I loved it when he did that, it was like our own secret language.

"Woah dude! You already have a crush, and on a Slytherin! That's like forbidden." Josie said noticing Tom and I.

"What's forbidden?" my attention was now fully on Josie and what she had to say.

"A Gryffindor hanging out with a Slytherin." She stated like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Why? Tom is my best friend though."

"We are rival houses. So you might me best friends now, but give it time and you'll only be friends in your dreams." She huffed. Was she right? I hoped not.

I glanced back at Tom who was still looking over at me, worried etched into his features now. He mouthed, 'You okay?' , I nodded and smile. If we can only be friends in my dreams then I was going to be darn sure to dream as much as possible. After all, Dreams are a world that is our own and nobody can take them away from you.
