As Jacob left to look around, Matt stayed back and continued looking out for the window, searching for the same man. 10 minutes had passed and he still hadn't found him. He sighed and turned around. He saw Jacob at the counter talking to some girl. Matt walked up just as the girl turned to leave.
She bumped into him and backed up a little bit. "Oh, sorry..." she said as her face blushed red. "Eh, don't worry about it. And by the way..." Matt bent down to eye level with her. "If you think he's someone to walk with around town, you've got the wrong man." She turned around and looked at Jacob. Matt stood back up and grabbed Jacob's collar and dragged him outside. "Here's my number!" Jacob yelled as the doors shut. Matt let go of his shirt.
"Hey! I had it there! I almost got her on the hook!" Jacob yelled. Matt picked up his bike and got on it. "We need to go."
"Why?"
"I've... just got this bad feeling." Jacob sighed and shuffled to his bike. They rode back to Matt's house and ran inside. "Mom?" His parents were sitting in the living room talking to one another. "Yes?"
"Uh, never mind." The two boys went back outside. "Told you nothing was wrong..." Jacob said quietly. Matt shot him a glare. "Alright! Alright." They sat there for a while when Jacob's mom pulled up. "Jacob, we need to go. NOW."
"What?" He looked to Matt. "Uh, alright..." He ran back inside, grabbed his stuff and ran back out and jumped in the car.
"See you Matt!"
"See ya." Matt waved goodbye until he couldn't see the car anymore. Matt couldn't stop thinking about the man he had saw at the store. 'Was it something I did? Does he have a grudge against me?' He gave up thinking and yelled in the house. "I'm going to the lake!"
"Alright!" his mom shouted back.
Matt jumped onto his bike and rode down to the lake that wasn't far from the house. He looked out into the water. It rippled slightly as the wind blew gently. He picked up a stone and threw it into the water. Kaplosh! Kaplosh! After a couple of good throws, he got the rock to skip. Matt threw his hands up in the air. "Finally!"
He kept throwing and throwing rocks, until he eventually noticed that it was dark. "Shit, I better get home." He pedaled as fast as he could back to his house.
'I'm gonna get some crap when I get home.' He dropped his bike in the driveway where there was a car.
'That's weird...'
He walked in. The house was pitch black, with only a small shimmer of the moon. He slowly walked forward and on the carpet and hear a 'squish' sound. He stopped dead in his tracks and looked down. The small shimmer of light started to grow bigger as a cloud moved away from the moon. It then reached Matt's feet. He saw a hand right in front of him which then, slowly, started getting farther and farther. And then showed the body of his mother. There was a bullet hole through her head and multiple shots in her back. "No, no no no... It's actually happening..."The light then showed his dad, face down on the floor, blood around his head. The once tan carpet was now a dark blood red. He heard something move behind him and Matt spun around.
