Rant # 1 : Youtube

Youtube is a wonderful website, you can share videos with the world, and there's just such a large variety of vidoes. You can laugh at Smosh and CollegeHumor, fangirl at those attractive British Youtubers like Danisnotonfire, and those British twins.

There's Tyler Oakley, who's fabulous. Anyway, overall, I do like this website. There is however on things that drives me insane.

I depsise their silly rules, that make no sense. I had an epiphany one day. Rules are meant to protect people and keep things under control, yeah I get that. However, the way they enforce them is total bullcrap.

Here's what led to this rage.

I'm an extreme otaku, which is a geek obsessed with Japanese manga and anime. Anyway, there is a genre of anime/manga called yaoi. It is directed towards a female audience. It's gay relationships heavily romanced. It's sort of like shoujou manga but with gay guys.

So, on Youtube, there is these types of videos called Manga and Drama CD vidoes. They take these drama cd, with voice actors, and match them up to the yaoi manga to make a video. I hope I'm not confusing! Just google it, perhaps it'll clear it up better.

So moving on, I watch these videos on Youtube, however they always get flagged and taken down. I'm like "why? what's wrong with it?" So I go on their guidelines, and discover that they don't allow nudity and sex.

Okay, so I now understand why they take some of the vidoes down. I mean, I'm not happy about it, but they did violate the rules. However, as time goes by, I start to wonder.

They are some yaoi vidoes that aren't explicit, yet they get taken down. I'm all "what the heck man?". Look, this may seem silly, but I'm seriously starting to hate Youtube's rules.

They say, "I'm sorry, this video is flagged by the Youtube community due to nudity :/" Okay, first of all, is it considered nudity if they're just drawn characters?! Even if it is, some yaoi videos contain ZERO sex and nudity, yet they get taken down anyway!!!

These users spend time and effort to edit and put together these videos, only to have them taken down. The worst part is, Youtube always say that they'll be fair and put it all into consideration, but I get the feeling they don't. It's like, "OH look! This video's been flagged a lot! Let's just remove it."

All these younger people find the internet, and they're like, "Let's be a horrid person! Let's comment mean stuff and flag everything for fun!" Really? That's not responsible at all!!!

You know what I mean, people post some nasty stuff in the comments, it's not even fun to read the comment section anymore. Comments are meant as an expression of your opinion of the video, not to start some random internet war in all caps lock.

Okay, look I'm not going to nitpick at their grammar and words. That's not my point, it frustrates me how they could just post some horrible things. I mean those uploaders are real people with feelings, would you say it to their face?

Look, I know that if you're putting yourself out there on the Internet, there's going to be some negativity and judgement. There always is. Not all the comments are going to roses and happiness.

However, is there not a better way of expressing you do not like something? Instead of cussing something out, just say it in a well I guess, more explained way? For example, why didn't you like it? And if you didn't, just remember to avoid these types of videos next time.
