Mermaid's End (It's a poem)

The sound of a boat,
The whirring of the engine,
Becoming louder.

I begin to swim,
A splash is heard from above,
Fear overwhelming.

A criss-cross pattern,
The net surrounds me quickly,
Leaving me helpless.

The air feels like ice,
Leaving me shivering cold,
The sailors just laugh.

"We caught one!" they yell,
My body hits the ship deck,
The wood scratching my back.

Knowing death is near,
I mutter a quick goodbye,
Tears falling quickly.

They laugh evilly,
"They all said we were crazy,"
And the world goes black.

A/N Another one is up Mers! I wrote this during seventh hour today, so I did something productive during that class.

Anyway...what do you guys think? I mean, it seems kinda dark to me but it's just a personal opinion. I feel bad for the mermaid...mean sailors. Also, I don't know why I've been doing a lot of haikus lately, but I think it's easy to tell a story with them, so here it is.

So let me know what you think, and comment, vote, share possibly? Happy reading,
