CHAPTER 5
I am lying in a soft green field looking up at the deep blue sky that doesn’t have a cloud in it. This place is so beautiful I can’t help but thinking that I never want to leave it, I want to stay in this magical place that makes me feel really calm, relax, and without a care in the world. The sound of the birds’ sweet songs make me want to go to sleep and never wake up again. The sweet song floods in my ears even more when I sit up. Then I see something walking towards me, I don’t know what it is. It looks like a big black blob (I think I am going crazy). Now it’s right in fount of me and I can see that it is a man in a big, black trench coat with the hood pulled over his face so I can’t see it. I start to scream and run as fast as I can when I hear a voice that sounds like it’s far away like it was being carried to me by the wind.
I open force my eyes, and I feel Ashton shaking me by the shoulders and saying my name trying me get me to regain consciousness. When he sees that I am back he picks me up from the bed and gave me a big hug like I might have died and then came back to life. He was hugging me for what felt like forever and then he stopped and put me back on a bed then asked, “Are you ok? You fainted and then I had to carry you out of the room and get away from all those guys trying to get you. When we got here, where we are safe, I laid you on the bed. After a while you started to act like you were having a dream and started to scream and looked like you were running from something. What was it? Please tell me. You can tell me anything and I will believe you. I won’t laugh, or make fun of you. Just tell me what happened.” He said so fast that I had to listen really hard to make it out. Then he kneelt by the side of the bed and started to pet my head (like my mom did when I was sick) trying to make me feel better. And I did feel better just by having him here with me and proving that he cared about me. When he touched my head I felt a tingle and heat, even when he didn’t have his hand on me I could feel him and know that he was there.
I started to shake and it would not stop no matter how hard I tried it wouldn’t stop, all I could hope was that he did not notice. But he did, how could he not when I was right next to him and he had his hand on my head. “What’s wrong?” he asked “You can tell me. Its ok, I’m here, I’m here for you.” He said in a very soothing voice over and over.
Then when I was able to breathe just a bit easer I said “I-I don’t know w-why I am shaking, I just can’t stop.” I was still shaking, but not as bad and I could breathe just a bit better but not much. “Where are we?”
“What happened in your dream?” he asked as he stroked my hair.
“I-I was laying on in a r-really g-green pasture l-looking up at t-the really b-blue sky and w-when I sat up a-and saw a m-man in a b-big b-b-black coat like the one t-that the m-man was w-wearing when he t-tried to take m-me. Then I got up and started to r-run and scream for help w-when I heard your voice a-and then I woke up. I was just so scared.” Just thinking about it again made me start to shake even harder and taking about it made it worse.
“It’s ok. You are not there anymore, you are here and you are safe with me. I won’t let anyone hurt you, I promise.” He took me in his arms and gave me a big supportive hug to help me calm down. “It’s ok,” he repeats over and over softly in my ear.
“I know, it’s just I’m so tired, but I am afraid that when I go to sleep I will have that dream again and I don’t know if I could handle that,” I say while working my hardest to keep my droopy eyelids open.
“You just lay down and I promise that I will stay right here and that if you start to act like you are having a bad dream I will wake you up and you won’t be alone,” he said.
I think that that is a good idea but I am still afraid that I will have a bad dream and not be able to wake up, but I trust Ashton to keep his word and be there when I wake. I lay down, my eyelids start to shut and there is nothing I can do about it.
